Emilia had been stuck in that hospital for 7 days. She had started to lose a little more blood on her second day and Dr Allyson, much to Emilia's dismay had admitted her for a further 5 days to be sure of no severe or lasting damage.
The couple had announced Mia'a pregnancy at the hospital, of course most people had guessed, namely Otis but there hadn't been any confirmation. The Chief had advised her to stay at home on leave for a few weeks and although she hated that idea too, Jay's concern was enough to make her comply. Kelly and Matt had first intended to punch Jay for her which Emilia found rather funny, after reassuring them that although she was scared she was happy they enveloped her into a hug. Herrmann was quick to congratulate his goddaughter, offering her all the advice he could think of he too enveloped her in a hug.
Since returning home 4 weeks ago, Gabby Dawson had been at her best friend's place with every moment she could. After Mia'a slight break in the hospital Gabby had made it her mission to make sure Mia was okay and did everything she could to reassure her that her twins would be okay and have an amazing life ahead of them with both mom and dad.
Right now Mia was sat on the sofa trying to get hold of Kelly Severide. It was her last day of leave and Kelly had promised to come over and catch her up to speed on the comings and goings of the firehouse.
"It's Severide. Can't take your call. Leave your message and I'll get back to you, bye."
Mia groaned as Kelly's cell went to voicemail, again. It was then she heard the ringing of the doorbells. "Coming!" Shifting from her position on the sofa and using the arm to lift her body up she moved towards the door. She opened the door to reveal none other than Kelly Severide who practically barged in. "Come in, why don't you."
"My Dad's back" Kelly announced monotonously, Mia's words gone unnoticed as he began to pace towards the kitchen area.
"Benny?" Mia raised an eyebrow at her best friend as she followed Kelly and towards the kettle to boil it. Noticing the look he gave her she realised how stupid her question had been. "Right, of course Benny"
"He wants me and Anna to have dinner with him. He wanted you and Steve to come with us" Kelly retorted quickly still trying to process the fact that his father was back. "I told him about Steve, Mia, I'm sorry" Kelly cut himself off with an apology.
Mia smiled softly as she leant herself on the counter to pull some cups from the shelf. "It's okay, Kelly. You want me to come with you? We know Benny loves me." Mia chuckled at the end. She followed Kelly around like a shadow when she used to come to the Firehouse on her father's shift days which in turn meant Kelly would annoy her and Mia would turn to Benny to help get Kelly back by pranking him.
"You don't have to" Kelly offered quickly. "It's just Anna-"
"She's not used to Benny Severide's ways." Emilia finished quickly. "He'll put your charm to shame." She joked.
Kelly wasn't laughing.
Mia held her hands up in mock surrender. "Okay. Okay. Not funny. When is this dinner? Next week?" Mia asked as she moved towards the bar stool to sit down. Being pregnant was tough on her feet, sitting down she placed a hand on her stomach.
He reached a hand out and scratched the back of his head. "Tonight"
"I better call Jay then." Mia rolled her eyes. Kelly was always bad for last minute decisions.
