"Chow's up." Emilia called from behind the stove, she had offered to cook the firehouse's breakfast today as they reminded her that whilst on maternity leave she would be no longer keeping their appetite in check. Feeling slightly guilty, she complied.
"What is it Lieutenant?" Cruz asked, rubbing his hands together in excitement as they all gathered around the long table.
"I'll go get squad" Brian offered, leaning his head out of the double doors as he hollered them all into the room.
"It's scrambled eggs on toast." Emilia smiled, placing a single plate in front of Cruz.
"Oh" A small wave of disappointment landed on his features. Emilia would always go big on breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast had been what Herrmann and Mouch had been making as it was the quickest and simplest of most breakfast.
"Give over, has this Italian ever let you eat that when i've been in the kitchen?" Not waiting for a response she walked towards the worktop and brought out some more plates. "It's a pepper frittata with meatballs. Call it more of a brunch."
The beam quickly reappeared, "I'm going to miss you lieutenant."
"No Cruz, it's the food you're going to miss." She quipped quickly. With that Matt and Kelly helped dish out the breakfast and passed it around the firefighters.

Emilia had been wandering back and forth all day, she was really not able to get comfortable.
"Still can't get comfy?" Kelly asked, watching her walk towards the squad table where they were playing a game of cards. "I can give you a ride home, if you need. Maybe a bath would help?" He offered.
Emilia just shook her head, she didn't want to do that.
She only had 4 more shifts to go before she started her maternity leave, Boden had offered for her to leave last week but she refused, stating that she wasn't quite ready to leave the firehouse yet. It would only mean she would sit at home and be overcome by her thoughts, the inevitable of two small children crying and needing non stop attention was not something she wanted to think about just yet, Jay hadn't even finished the baby's nursery.
"Okay, how about I make you some tea?" Kelly tried.
"Yeah that would be nice" Mia smiled. She didn't really want tea, but she knew Kelly was only doing his best to watch out for her.
"Come on.." Before Kelly had a chance to finish the tanoy blared.
'Squad 3, Ambo 63, Truck 81 - Multi Vehicle accident on the corner of Ash and Crescent'
"Maybe when we're back." Mia smiled, jogging around to the Ambo and throwing on her jacket as did the rest of the firehouse.
The doors quickly opened and all three vehicles left the firehouse.
Meanwhile, in the ambo, Brett was telling the girls about her date with the nameless man.
"He was just- he's just, soo nice. I mean. He like I don't know. He just does things to me no man has ever done to me before. It's .... amazing."

Firehouse 51 arrived on scene together with all the firefighters jumping out of the trucks and quickly surveying the damage, it wasn't anything too serious but doors were jammed and trapped and it would be hard for anyone to leave the cars.
"Emilia, you take the trapped door with Severide and Capp. Gabby and Brett, go with Otis and Herrmann and try and see if you can get the pedestrian from under the car and check for more injuries. This should be a quick one" Boden ordered.
With that, everyone dispersed and although slowly, Emilia Frances followed Severide with the medi bag towards the trapped driver.
"Hey, I'm Mia I'm a medic, what's your name?" She asked calmly, handing the collar to Severide so he could secure the man's neck.
"I'm Tristan. I don't know what happened, I just blacked out. Please don't tell my wife, it's it's our wedding anniversary, she'll kill me if I have to go to hospital. "
Emilia smiled sadly, "I don't think we're going to be able to avoid telling her I'm afraid Tristan, you have limited movement in your legs. It might just be the shock but I need you to be very still just in case it's something that will need an xray, okay?"
He didn't offer a response and only nodded in understanding.
Kelly turned to Emilia, "we're going to have to pry the door from the door behind the driver. We aren't going to get the cutters in there." He explained, motioning the crushed front end of the car.
Mia nodded in understanding, it would have been exactly what she would have done. Turning to the patient, she explained softly what Kelly would be doing. "Okay, did you get that Tristan? Severide here will try and pry the door from behind you okay? Stella here is on the other side of you just in case you need to stop okay? You're in control bud." She said to the man, referring to Kidd who had just appeared to aid the three firefighters on the mangled vehicle.
Emilia threw her helmet back on and unzipped her jacket slightly, she was getting far too warm. She was going to have to start wearing thinner clothes under these fire suits.
Kelly had started cutting she stood towards the front of the car, giving the firefighters room to move but she wasn't completely out of the way.
Emilia could hear Stella try and reassure the man, he was starting to panic and she was starting to get concerned, he may have possibly punctured a lung. She moved lightly closer, she wasn't paying attention and as she neared towards the driver, his door swung back, connecting with her side.
The Liuetenant groaned in pain but pushed away Capp who quickly came to aid her. "I'm fine Capp, I was just in the way. It's nothing" She assured.
"What the hell were you playing at? You never move without warning us first!" Severide screamed immediately, not thinking.
The woman ignored him and moved towards the man, ignoring the pain that was terrorising her side. "Okay, he's got a punctured lung, we need to get him out and into the ambo now."
Kelly felt bad, he shouldn't have snapped at her but she knew better.

"Okay, we've got a 45 year old male. He was involved in a MVA 25 minutes ago. Restricted movement in the lower limbs and query punctured lung, he was given oxygen on route and not complaining of any other pain." Emilia spoke as she handed the patient over to Dr Choi who had been waiting at the doors for them.
Guiding the trolley into the bay, the two paramedics began helping to transfer the man. "On three, one, two and three." Emilia groaned upon the number three, but quickly tried to stem the noise. Choi glanced at her quickly, it failed to pass him.
The two girls, removed the trolley from the bay and began walking towards the nurses' station so they could fill out the forms. "I've got this one Brett, you go back to the ambo." Emilia said.
"Sure, you took quite a blow back on scene?? Maybe you should get checked out?" Brett tried, looking worriedly. Kelly had pulled her to the side and told her what had happened and told the young paramedic to get her checked out.
"No, I'm fine. I wasn't hurt, I'll be five minutes." She insisted.
Brett sighed, Severide would not be happy. But nevertheless, she headed back to the ambo.
