"Hey, any of you seen Em?"  Kelly asked, walking towards Matt.

"She headed towards the shower, said the little Halsteads were lying on her back, she was in a bit of pain," Matt shrugged, looking at Kelly's face of worry, he proceeded "what's up?"

"The car door swung and hit her side earlier, I tried to get Brett to see if she would be seen but she refused" he shrugged. "I might try and force her down."

Kelly wondered off, he hated that Emilia was do stubborn she would refuse help. Proceeding towards the showers  he entered slowly.

"Mia?" He called, standing behind the screens that separated the showers from the sinks.

"Kelly you're not supposed to be in here." She huffed, continuing to wash her hair.

"I just wanted to see if you were good, and to say sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you earlier I just panicked. I got scared that you were put in danger." He said, leaning his arm against the wall, his ankles crossed and a thick glance kn the mirror to check his fresh trim.

The lieutenant turned off the shower in order to continue washing, as she did so she couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of pain in her side.

She managed to contains the twinge.

"It's fine Kel, I promise. I put myself in the way, it's my fault." She said, turning the shower back on. "Now. Can you please leave me in peace so I can finish my shower. I don't want to have to explain to Jay that this is going on" She chuckled.

Kelly smiled too, satisfied he bid her farewell and began walking towards the  door and opened it but he was soon stopped in his tracks.

"Urgh" she groaned. Her hand flying towards her belly.

"Em?"

"Shit, that hurt." She complained. Then came another one. "Kelly!!"

The firefighter soon closed the door and ran towards the showers. "What's wrong?"

"Kelly. I think- I think my babies are coming" She screamed. She grabbed the towel on the side and gingerly wrapped herself in it.

"No, it's too early!"

"I know Kelly! I know! I just need you to be my best friend now and let me do the panicking" She pleaded as the pain subsided for a moment. "Just go-go get Dawson."

Quickly, he obliged and ran from the showers. He soon picked up speed and bumped into Matt.

"Where's the fire buddy?"

'The twins are coming" he said, voice laced in panic.

Matt would have thought he was joking if he hadn't seen the fear in his face. "Calm down, where is she? Is she still in the showers?"

Kelly nodded. "I need to get Gabby"

"They've just left on a call, they're on the other side of Bucktown" Matt sighed, rubbing his features.

"They can't be! She needs them!"

"Right okay, you go get dispatch to send one down. I'll stay with Em and call Jay. She needs him right now." Matt offered, Kelly didn't speak and only nodded before rushing off towards the main room.

Matt turned back, headed towards the showers. "Em it's me. Can I come in?" He didn't feel as if he could just barge in. He heard a slight whimper on the other side and continued.

"Matty". She cried. She was in the middle of another contraction. "I need Jay, I want Jay. Wheres Gabby?"

"Just hold my hand, okay. I got you. I'll call Jay." He didn't mention anything about Gabby, he knew it would send her into overdrive. It was the last thing she needed.

Reaching into his pocket, Matt pulled out his phone. Searching through his contacts he soon came across Dt Halstead. The phone quickly rang.

Meanwhile, in the precinct. The team had all been eating lunch at their respective desks.

Jay was sat at his own with Adam and Antonio having pulled up their chairs.

"So how's she doing kid?" Antonio asked, he grew up with Mia but hadn't actually seen her much lately. "Still complaining about her ankles?"

"Ankles?" Adam asked naively.

"Man, you boys really don't know anything." Erin chuckled, pinching one of Adam's chips before wandering towards the break room.

"Yeah, Laura had it bad with Diego, not so much Eva. She couldn't walk at all." He emphasised.

Jay shook his head, throwing another fry into his mouth. "No, she's still working. She's got three more shifts to go."

Antonio wasn't going to ask. He knew Emilia all too well. "When she due then? Cutting it close isnt she?"

"No. She's not due for another 7 weeks. She was adamant that she would stay there until the very end but I think she's starting to realise we actually need to prepare." He chuckled.

"Speaking of preparing." Burgess started.  "We've all got the weekend off so we're going to help you sort that nursery out."

Jay smiled gratefully, "that would really mean a lot." Before he could continue, his phone began to rang.

"Speak of the devil?" Adam asked, wondering if it was Mia.

Jay shook his head. "It's Matt." Curios, he answered the phone. "Jay Halstead"

'Hey bud its Matt, look I need you down in the firehouse as soon as you can. Its Em'

Panicked, Jay sat up in his chair and the bullpen quickly became quiet.

"What's wrong? What's happened?"

"She's gone into labour. The wind are on their way and judging big the pain and how fast these contractions are, they're not going to wait for no one"

"I'll be there. Is Gabby with her?" He asked, trying to put his jacket on.

The whole bullpen was quiet. Voight had even walked out to see what was going on.

Jay could hear Matt become quieter. He assumed it was so Enilia couldn't hear. "They're on a call. The nearest ambo is 40 minutes out and there's no way we are going to move her in this much pain."

Jay nodded, tears brimming in his eyes. "Okay, okay. I'll call Will. I'll get him to meet us there."

Hanging up, Jay just didn't know what to do. Things were now moving 100x faster than he could ever expect.

"Hey man, you good?" Tonio asked, his eyebrow large in query.

"The babies are on their way."

Erin put down her coffee. "Well come on then, what are you waiting for? I'll drive. Sarge?" She looked towards Hank.

"Go. You dont want to miss this kid."
