Chapter 12:
I never really needed a tutor. I always was intelligent, always received excellent grades, and scored excessively high on academic test and quizzes. My mom always brought me out to go get ice cream, which was mostly every week, for every time I had a 100 on a test or quiz. It was something that I exceeded at very thoroughly.
School wasn't very entertaining today either. The teachers discussed subjects I already knew about, and I finished my tests rapidly, without taking a breather. Something everyone would look at me like I'm another Einstein.
After all my classes were over, I headed toward my locker. Juan followed me like some sort of stalker, being peculiar about things. I sat next to Valerie today on the bus and lunch, never giving a thought of talking to Juan. I still could see him prancing behind me and when I turned around, he would hide behind a student or a trash can. He was terrible at not being noticeable.
When I reached my locker, he finally showed himself in front of me. I burst out laughing in his face, and he looked as confused as an asian kid in the middle of Mexico. I told him that I saw him the whole time, as he looked very embarrassed, like I told him his zipper was down. Which it was, but it was one embarrassing moment at a time.
"Did you talk to her yet," he asked, wanting to know which seemed like forever. I had a completely forgotten about that, and quickly told him what happened before we had to get to the bus.
"Wow, you reeled this one in," Juan said, laughing and smiling whole saying, and I had to laugh too. He always says that about girls, as if we're fishing for them.
"I wouldn't say that," I kinda whispered, and he smacked me full on the side of my face. I bet you could've heard it across the hallway and throughout the school, because it was extremely rambunctious. I felt my cheek ringing with pain, as I looked in straight in the eye, with my hand on y face. He said my face was very red like I had a baboons butt as my face.
"What was that for," I nearly yelled, and then he tried to sooth me down, telling me to breath in and out. I swear this kid is not subtle when it comes to that stuff.
"Because you lied and you know how I hate liars," he said. It's true. He smacked this one kid in fifth grade for saying he didn't steal his taco. He also loves his tacos, like I do.
"How do you know that's not a lie?" I asked.
"Because she asks you to come over to her house bro, that's enormous," he said, getting louder and louder while saying it. He even had his arm out wide to describe enormous. Sometimes I thought he was drunk.
"Maybe she just likes me as a friend," I said, and then he motioned to slap me one more time in the face, but I grabbed his hand just in the knick of time.
"No she doesn't," he demanded at me. I couldn't say no now, since Juan really knew his girls. It's like he studies them in a big textbook day and night. Like there a species or something.
"Why?" I asked, seeing that we kept asking ourselves question after question after question.
"She wants you to teach her, but not in school, at her house," he told me, and then I knew that was a lie. User guys do that all the time to girls and they never like each other. Just plain friends.
"I'm not listening to you," I said, and started walking towards the bus ramp. Walking wasn't the right word. More like sprinting or the doors would close and we would be stuck in school. We made it just seconds of missing it.
"Be early next time," our bus driver told us to do. We nodded our heads, and ten sat next to each other in a open seat.
"I'm just saying, she might be your first girlfriend," he said, and then I got a little warm inside of me. Like he told me I won a million dollars. But this was far more greater than that. I felt liking hopping off the bias and full out sprinting to her house. But I kept my cool, and looked shocked towards Juan's statement.
"She can?" I asked.
"Definitely," he said, and then started to talk about, again, call of duty. I wanted to shove a dirty sock in the guy's mouth. Again, I blocked him out and thought of how it would e like to date Valerie. When we hold hands, hug when we have to leave, and go for a picnic under the bright stars. That would be paradise for me.....
The bus dropped us of quickly, and me and Juan walked with each other and the we were at my house.
"Go get that princess of yours," he said, snapping and winking at me. Yup, this boy is drunk out of his mind. I opened the door, and my mom was waiting right there. She looked very excited for once, thank god.
"You better be polite to her and her family," she demanded and pointed at me. I told her that I would and I will have good manners as well.
"You better," she said sarcastically, and laughed with me.
I went upstairs and put one of my favorite bottles of colon. It was one my dad gave me before he left, and I only used it on special occasions. This was indeed a very special one.
I put it on, and then checked my phone. I had one message from Valerie, and when I opened it, it read:
2756 haville road, Omaha reef! Can't wait to see you!!!
When I read it, I nearly fainted. Juan was right. She did like me. I then went in front of the mirror and checked how I looked. I brushed my hair, and then checked one more time.
I looked good I thought.
I was ready.
