Cassi opened her eyes to sheer pain and a sheet of near white hair dangling over her.

She was disoriented, confused and agitated; her pulse weak and her body fridged.

She was laying flat on her back on frosty black asphalt. Her arm was outstretched, but she could faintly make out a puddle of blood just beneath it. The starlight strands where tickling her skin again as he scurried to stop her blood flow.

"Lucius!" She panted.

"You're here. How are you here?" She rasped, the irregularities of her respiration suffering by the minute.

Her question went unanswered, as he merely shushed her. She vaguely wondered if she was talking with the unseen. But she felt his touch. His breath on her skin, his hands maniacally trying to clot her blood.

Her vision was starting to become blurry, her eyes glassy, tearing, and half open.
Thick crimson pooled heavier and darker around her, the metallic tinge filling her nostrils with the taste of death. Dizzy, she dared to lean her neck to look at the cause of such blood loss. Squinting her eyes; she couldn't be for sure, but it looked to her like a chunk of her arm was gone. Her once porcelain skin was now a bluish, pale, her hands and what she could see of her knees, purplish and blotchy.

She heaved a gurgling sigh, laying her head back upon the hard icy ground. It should have been cold to her. She should be shivering, but her body temperature had dropped so low that she couldn't feel anything anymore. With a hunk of her elbow gone, a vital artery gushing out what was scant-protection to her life source-she should be suffering in an excruciating and relentless amount of agonizing pain- but she was numb.

She was withdrawing from the world and going within herself. Tired and her body feeling heavy, the need for immediate sleep was nearly consuming her.

"Lucius, kiss me before I die." Her words were hard to make out, her lungs filling with fluid.

What a way to go. Splinched mid Apparation. And to a limb. To a part of my body only used to bend an arm or power drive a bony elbow into an annoying Bartemius Crouch Jr. At least I can tell him goodbye before the last drop of my blood renders my heart mute, shutting down all of my major organs. I can go in peace knowing he's here by my side.

He leaned over her prone body, covered head to toe in her own blood.

"Cassi, I can't stop it!" Yaxely huffed out, panicked.

Not Lucius!

The site of Yaxely's face threw Cassiopeia into further shock.

A "fish out of water" her breathing pattern became erratic. She was falling into that deep sleep from which she'd never be awakened.

Unheard to her, determined footsteps raced forward to the horrific scene. Yaxley stared forward in horror unable to speak. He was knocked out of the way, his red-stained hands pulling at his own hair in an anxious desperation. But, he finally found his tongue.
