Behind a painting on the wall there lie a hidden tunnel, dark, dank, and frigid. The walls were made of stone, the ceiling and floor landscaped with hard mucky mounds of dirt. Shut off from the rest of the world, the only sounds were that of a repetitive drip of water and soft sobs emitting from Cassiopeia Black.

She'd walked through the Secret Passage, threw herself against the roughness of the stone, slid down to her bottom, and now set with her knees pulled up to her chest weeping. She held her face in her hands, her palms hiding away her tear shed. But there was no hiding the agony that reverberated from the rise and fall of her heaving cries. She was in pain.
Not from a Curse or cut, but pain of the heart. Pain so deep she felt it consuming her entire being.

She hadn't just walked away from the man she loved, she'd left him alone to face his own demise. He would now counter the many facets of Azkaban, believing that she had chosen Severus Snape over him and just thrown him to a pack of wolves like a hunk of meat.

"How could I be so weak!" She squalled, unable to control the emotions that tore through her.

I should've stayed. I should've stood up against the Order with him and not ran like a cowardly weasel. That look on his face!

He'd thought she betrayed him. Really she hadn't. Cassi had thought long and hard about it on her way there. Lucius wouldn't go without a fight. He wouldn't just let what had happened between Severus and herself go. He wanted revenge at the end of his wand before he too died. She'd had no choice when she arrived and Stupified him. She had to incapacitate him so he'd go willingly, thus have a better chance of living. It was just timing that she saved Severus from certain death. But he'd never know that. Not now. Not if he faced a life in prison, or worse yet, the Dementors kiss.

"FUCK!" She mewled, her sound resonating throughout the Secret Passage.

Severus was on the other side of the barrier, also leaning against it in a sad sitting position. He was visualizing everything that had just happened, his face sullen as he heard her cries. He'd thought she'd be gone by now, but her weeping told him otherwise. It sliced through him. He felt bad for her. His own emotions were taking over his normal cold and assertiveness. His shook his head and stood.
