The scream turned into a blood curdling howl as Severus followed the sound of her agony. The noise came from the kitchens, in which Cassiopeia was naked from the waste up lieing flat on her stomach on the marble kitchen island. He gasped as he reached the door and looked on at the scene unfolding before him.

Black fabric from her robes was melted into the flesh of her back, her skin discolored with second and third degree burns. The worse of the slashes that were once covering the entirety of her back now formed a single bloody word. Avery's jaw was slack; his mouth wide in shock. Cassi still screaming in immense pain, Severus hovered in the doorway, followed by the Carrow's.
"I was trying to nap! What's all the bloody hollering about!?" Amycus Carrow shouted in irritation, his sister Alecto just behind him. Without moving, Severus jolted an arm, throwing it up and smashing Amycus' in the nose with the back of his fist. It knocked him off his feet and sent him hurtling into the arms of Alecto; together they fell in a heap to the floor. Holding his bleeding nose with both hands he began to muffle a comeback, but at the evil glare Severus aimed towards him, he and Alecto scrambled away and left the premises.
Meanwhile, Pius was squeezing one of Cassi's hands as she tried to hold the tears of pain at bay.
"Avery, what did you do?" Severus asked sternly.
"I just tried removing her corset and her skin peeled off with it! So in a rush to cure her I focused. I focused on her as hard as I could. But her screams, her agony! The spell.... The spell..... It wasn't supposed to do that!" Avery panicked, his brow sweating as he nibbled his lip and threw his hands up to the side of his head in despair.
Severus took 3 giant strides to where Avery was standing and looked down at the prone whimpering Cassiopeia. Etched into her back in bold crimson letters was her name. "CASSIOPEIA"

Severus smacked Avery upside his head. "I thought you said you could handle this?" He spat in frustration.
"I... I. ... must have focused on her name to hard as I performed the spell.
"You think? You blithering idiot! Get out! And take Pius with you." Severus ordered.
Avery started to argue but the way Cassi looked at him, her palms now clamping the edge of the island, he held his tongue and merely apologized. "I'm sorry Cassi. Truly, I."
