Level 8 of The Ministry of Magic was a massive area that served as lobby and reception room to visitors and employees. The Atrium was a very long hall with highly polished dark wood floors, the ceiling peacock blue and filled with golden symbols that kept moving like a notice board you'd find at an airport. The walls on each side were covered in gilded fireplaces: the ones on the left-hand side serving arrivals and the ones on the right-hand side for departures. Halfway down the Atrium was a grand statue: at its foot, The Fountain of Magical Brethren- where The Disguised Severus and Cassiopeia were to meet the other two Death Eaters.
On the far end of the hall was a Security Desk, the Ministry Munchies café, and a set of double golden gates leading to the access lifts. Located in a room off of the Atrium, was a Security Office, containing spare keys to the offices and lift informations. Then finally, behind that room- hidden to onlookers- was, The Magical Maintenance Department.
Severus and Cassi still hand in hand, matched the others pace, streaming forward towards the magnificent fountain.
Spotted around them, were high arched grandiose windows. However, they did not reflect the outside world, but instead, were fabrications. Although the structure was underground, those magical windows showed whatever weather the Magical Maintenance Department had chosen for the day. From bright sunshine to hurricanes. Today, it showed a black overcast of thick thunderous clouds- lightening striking and flashing bright blue as rain blew in sideways and beat against the fake panes.
A contract dispute had resulted in the windows showing grim, rainy weather for a solid month now, no matter what the outside weather was doing. Before descending below the feet of a steady gathering of passersby's, it had been chilly with biting winds, fluffy wintery white pillows floating aimlessly. The sun shown bright orange, high up in a baby blue sky in the town of Whitehall. But looming around them, it appeared to be bleak and gloomy.
Apparently, it was fairly common for rainstorms not only to be falsified as an outward view, but to also occur in the offices of those of whom the maintenance workers didn't approve of.The workers having full control of the office environment; Cassiopeia found herself itching with the need to cause havoc at the first available chance.
She spotted an idle Yaxely seconds before Severus did. Travers was nowhere to be seen- which worried Cassi, but the stoic Yaxely was heading them off, leading them to the far end of the Atrium hall, before she could ponder any further. Behind a pair of golden gates was a smaller hall with at least twenty lifts standing behind wrought golden grilles.
Without so much as a hello the three quickly entered and a tall lanky man in navy blue attire shut the grates behind them.
On his chest was a white stitched on patch that read:
Sturgis Ramsey
Magical Maintenance Dept.
Lift Attendant #2To ensure everything went smoothly, he instructed the trio to grab hold of one of the gold ropes hanging from the ceiling.
Cassi and Severus looked to the lift operator as if he were a foreign alien.
"I thought you said no one ever saw the maintenance blokes!" Cassi fumed.
Yaxley gripped the twine tighter as the lift jerked violently and began ascending. Cassi, flighty in her annoyance never grabbed the loop and lept sideways, knocked off balance, her face smushing into Severus armpit. Thank Merlin for magical deo! He helped her gather herself and wrapped an offering arm around her waste to help steady her as the lift jolted.
"No. Travers said that." He reported simply.
"Yaxley!" Severus bit, hoarse in irritation.
He merely stuck his nose in the air, before responding.
"Well, they go unnoticed atleast."
