Eliza's Pov:
Eliza was in the kitchen cleaning dishes. She sighed hearing her children arguing again. "Philip! Stop teasing your sister!" Eliza called through the house shaking her head. When, she heard a knock on the door. She furrowed her brows drying her hands off. She hurried to her door before taking a breath and opened the door.
She was expecting someone such as Aaron Burr or even maybe one of her children's friend's wanting them to play, but it was neither. It was a beautiful women. She was wearing a red dress, she had red lipstick on as well. Which definitely made them stand out.
"Mrs. Hamilton!" She said seeming really surprised to see her. To be honest, Eliza must have looked the same way.
"Yes...and who are you?" Eliza asked unsure what to do.
"Mrs. Maria Reynolds ma'am." She did a small curtsy.
Eliza gave a small nod. "What can I help you with Mrs. Reynolds?" She didn't appear to like being called that but Eliza decided to let it roll off her.
"I just...." She looked away for a moment. "Need a place to go for a little..." She looked back at Eliza, but not at her eyes.
"Is something wrong?" She asked softly noticing their eyes did not meet once again. She felt like something was going wrong with this woman. Maybe it was just a bad day, or maybe a bad week. Whatever it was, Eliza wanted to help fix it. That was just the kind of person she was.
"If I could come in, I could tell you....I'm not sure I'd want anyone else hearing it...." Eliza knew, she could help.
"Yes of course, Mrs. Reynolds, come in." She saw her tense up at the name again. Eliza felt bad. She was supposed to help this woman. She stepped out of the way to let her in. She closed the door.
When Eliza turned around she didn't see Maria. She raised a brow immediately going to her living room. She saw her sitting on the couch. Eliza was a little confused on how she knew how to get there, but then again, it wasn't that hard to find it.
Eliza looked at the woman. "Do you want something to drink?"
"Something cold please?" Maria said softly glancing at Eliza.
Eliza nodded and hurried to the kitchen. What was wrong with her? Everytime she made eye contact with her, she got this warm fuzzy feeling inside of her. "No...Eliza remember Alexander.." Eliza said mumbling as she went to the cupboard grabbing a cup filling it with water. As much as she tried, she could get her out of her mind. "Oh no..." She whispered to herself as she walked out to Maria. "Here you go." Eliza said as Maria smiled and took the cup of water.
"Thank you." Maria said and she took a sip. Eliza sat down and looked at Maria smiling softly nodding. Maria let out a soft sigh.
"Just begin talking whenever you're ready..." Eliza said softly.
Maria cleared her throat. "My husband's....hurting me...." She said as her voice went down.
Eliza's eyes widened. "Physically?"
Maria looked away nodding. "Yeah..."
Eliza teared up and grabbed Maria's hand out of comfort. "My husband's a lawyer. We could get you out..."
Maria let out a small sob. "Could you? With a jury full of men? They'll just look at me and say I'm lying! But I'm not!" She pulled the hair away from one of her eyes, revealing a black eye.
Eliza gasped. "Oh Maria...I..."
Maria let tears roll down her cheek. "I can't get out...they'll say I'm lying.."
Eliza knew what she said was true. The men would say that. Women didn't have any rights. "I wish I could help..."
Maria squeezed Eliza's hand, forcing a little smile. "You already have..."
Eliza felt a small blush form on her cheeks. "How so?"
"You let me come into your house, you believed me....what more could I ask for?" She said softly.
Eliza glanced away slightly. "A way out..."
Maria turned Eliza's head back towards her. "Maybe you are my way out..."
Eliza's face turne a dark red. "M-me?!"
Maria nodded. "Yeah...you know, maybe we could get closer.." Maria moved a little closer. "Maybe, I could come over and talk..it'd definitely help make life worthwhile.." Maria said with a grin on her face.
Eliza stuttered still blushing. She removed a hand from the other and brushed some behind her ears. "I-if you're sure it'll help.."
"Oh it will.." Maria said leaning in a bit.
"A-as long as your s-sure?" Eliza looks at Maria's eyes.
"Of course~" But before Eliza could respond, Maria's lips met her's. Eliza's eyes widened but she felt herself melt into her kiss. It was as if Maria had put a spell on her, and she was completely helpless.
Once Maria pulled away, she stood up. "I should get going.." Eliza looked up at her nodding.
"O-of course.." Eliza stood up herself, really close to Maria.
"Should I come back tomorrow?" Maria asked smirking.
"Please?.." Eliza asked softly.
"Sure thing beautiful..." Maria kissed her cheek gently before grabbing Eliza's hand leading her to the door. "Don't tell anyone okay?"
Eliza nodded. "No one will know.."
"Good." Maria kissed Eliza's cheek again. "Until tomorrow. "
"Until tomorrow." Eliza opened the door, and Maria walked out. She waved by and Eliza waved by herself. Once she was down the road, Eliza closed the door and hugged herself.
"Oh dear....I'm helpless...."
