Alex's pov:
Alexander sat was sitting down at his desk, while his friend John Laurens was pacing in front of the desk. Alexander let out a sigh as he looked at his friend.
"What troubles you John?" He asked with a soft tone not wanting to set his friend off.
"We've been writing and writing but still, they will not let us have one, ONE, black battalion." He said, anger lining his voice.
"Most people aren't as open minded as you John." Alexander said putting his quill down.
"But that's the problem." John stopped looking at Alexander. "If they were, we wouldn't have to lose as many white lives, AND, it could be one step closer to ending slavery."
Alexander nodded. "I agree, but how can we convince Congress to let us lead a black battalion?"
John was quiet for a moment before coming back and sitting down across from Alexander. "I guess we continue to write."
"That's something I can do well." Alexander added getting a small laugh from John.
"At least that makes one of us. All my papers either sound like pleads, or rants." John said.
Alexander let a small chuckle escape his lips. "Well, let me see one."
John didn't pass one. "No, Alexander. I want you to not read my writtings. They're terrible compared to yours.."
Alexander tilted his head. "John I'm sure that's not true."
John had a smile on his lips. No matter what John was going through, he seemed to always have a smile on his lips. Alexander always admired John for that.
As for Alexander, he was the exact opposite. His emotions always were shown on his face. If he was sad, or angry, everyone knew.
"Well, I guess you'll never know." A grin was on his lip as he glanced at Alexander.
Alexander returned a grin back. "I'll read one of your writings one day.."
"Not anytime soon. Maybe when we're old." John said a slight tease to his voice.
Alexander let out a small huff. "Uh huh, if you say so."
"And I do." John sat up straight and looked away from Alexander grabbing his quill. Alexander grabbed his own and looked at the paper he had just been writing and he continued to write, the grin still on his lips.
After a short amount of time, Alexander did get curious about what John was writing. Usually, he talked to Alexander when he wrote. This time he was silent. Alexander looked up and at the other. His usual smile was gone, a serious look had taken its place now.
Alexander was puzzled and leaned over slightly to see what he was writing. John quickly noticed and looked at Alexander blocking his way to see what was on the paper.
"What are you doing? " John asked sounding slightly defensive.
"I was just looking, you weren't talking so I was curious as to what you were me writing."
John let a silly grin form on his face. "It's a masterpiece, you can read it when I'm done."
Alexander nodded smiling widely. "Can't wait."
"Oh I'm sure you can't.." John said going back to work. Alexander let his eyes rest on the other man for a few moments more before looking away, going back to work himself.
Finally, Alexander was letting his ink dry on his paper when John stood up.
"Well, it's getting late." John said standing up. Alexander looked at him nodding. The sun had went down long ago. "I better head home."
"What about your masterpiece?" Alexander asked raising a brow.
John grinned. "Oh that? It's been done and dried for awhile now."
"Are you serious?" Alexander said chuckling lightly.
"I am." John said putting his jacket on. Alexander stood shaking his head.
"Why didn't you tell me? "
"You looked so focused, I couldn't break it."
Alexander walked around the desk standing in front of the other male. "Stay safe John."
"You always tell me that. I'm not a kid Alexander." John said laughing.
Alexander grinned slightly. "But you always stay safe don't you?"
John nodded grinning. "Yeah, I guess I do."
"Then treating you like a child must work." John gave a small laugh before hugging Alexander. Alexander was a bit surprised at the gesture, but he return the hug. It didn't last long, and John was the first one to pull away a small blush on his cheeks.
"See you tomorrow Alexander."
"See you tomorrow John." John walked around Alexander hurrying out.
Alexander let his attention go back to the desk, right where John had been sitting. He saw what he had written, a letter. Alexander picked it up. It said,
Dear Alexander,
Bet you were quick to grab the letter huh?
Alexander smiled widely nodding. "Yeah I was."
I don't want you to hate me after you read what I have to say. I've been meaning to get this off my chest for awhile now.
Alexander, you are one of the most sweetest, and kind people I know. You're also really hard working.
I remember when I first set my eyes on you. I felt my heart skip a beat, I always tried to ignore it, but, whenever you'd come back around, it'd happen all over again.
This might sound girly, but when you're around, I feel like I have butterflies in my stomach.
Alexander, I think I'm in love with you. I'm not going to lie. Deep, deep down, Alexander, I have this feeling. I am one hundred percent sure, I'm in love with you.
But, I know you might not accept these feelings, or me as of now. Which is fine if you can't, but at least maybe we could still be friends..it'd kill me but I'd be fine...
With love,
John Laurens.
Alexander hadn't noticed a speed up in his heartbeat, or a small blush that had appeared on his face. He almost knew once he set down the letter, that he was in love with the other as well.
Alexander sat down and grinned. He flipped the paper over picking up John's quill. He began to write,
'My dearest, John,
Don't you ever wonder why I say stay safe silly? I'm not going to write a lot on here, I don't want to ruin you lovely words. But, the feelings are mutal John.
With love,
Alexander Hamilton.'
