Lafayette Pov: [{Right after the Battle of Yorktown}]
"We won!!" Lafayette could hear his buddies chanting in the background. It put a small smile on his face, but it soon faultered when he realized, he'd have to go back to France. He'd have to help set his people free too.
He hadn't even realized that they were all ordering drinks now. John had probably picked Sam Adams like usual.
"To us to winning the revolution!" Alexander said raising his glass.
"To us!" John and Hercules raised their glasses to Alexander. Their eyes widened when they realized Lafayette had not join in.
"Laf?..Are you okay?" John asked raising a brow at the Frenchman.
"Hmm?" Lafayette looked up at the glasses before his eyes widened himself. "Uh, yes. To us!" He lifted his glass to clink it with the other's. Alexander and John cheered. Then began to take a drink from their glass. Hercules just lowered his still looking at Lafayette concerned. Lafayette just looked at the table taking a small drink of his. He could hear John and Alexander's excited chatter in the background. He was going to miss moments like this. Moments where they could be carefree and smile. He might never be able to do any of that with these men, ever again.
"Lafayette?" A voice cut through the thoughts in Lafayette's head.
"Hmm?" Lafayette blinked to see Hercules' worried expression looking at him."Could we talk for a minute? " Herc asked motioning his head to a hall away from everyone. Lafayette nodded and got up walking over to the hall. The other followed still looking worried. "I know something's wrong Laf. I can see it in your eyes. You aren't smiling either. Which isn't like you..."
"No, I'm alright mon chou, honest." Lafayette said looking away. He hate lying, especially to Herc. He was one of the only people who actually cared for Lafayette during his time in America.
"No! You're lying!" Hercules said his voice raising slightly. Lafayette flinched before looking back at the other male. "Why are you lying to me Laf? You can tell me anything..." He said frowning.
Lafayette sighed and looked away. "I have to leave mon amie..."
"What? Where are you going?" Hercules asked his eyes wide.
"Back to France...." Laf said in a soft tone.
"W-what?! No! No you can't leave! We just won!" Herc teared up and shook his head.
"I have to set my people free mon amie..." Laf frowned as he looked back at Herc seeing his tear up.
"But what about us here? Laf what about me? I-i thought we were super close! W-what am I going to do without you? I-i..." Hercules stuttered out and began to cry.
Laf frowned and hugged the other tightly. "Shh...ne pleure pas..." Laf whispered softly near his ear.
"Hmm?" Herc looked at Lafayette confused.
"Don't cry...." Laf said in English for him.
Herc didn't stop crying though. "But I'm going to miss you...I-i have no idea what I'm going to do without y-you..."
"Shhh...Herc...I promise, once my people are free, I will be back for you..." Laf said with a soft voice.
"But what if you don't come back?..." Herc asked his voice shaking.
Laf tried to kiss the tears from his face. "I promise, mon amour..."
Herc's cheeks turned a red. "You swear?"
"I swear mon amour...I'll be back for you..." Laf hoped that he would live to see the other again. But for now, he'd hold him, making a promise.
