Chp 30- Love Me Forever

After a huge session of being crushed by Pam with her questions, I looked over to Dan who was being awfully quiet as he stared elsewhere.

“Dan? You alright?” He turned back to me and smiled.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking after one big round you finally look happy after all this years.” I gave him a small smile as he gazed at me gently. After another hour we finished up and went our separate ways. I was on the way back to the office when Bruce called.

“Hello?” I couldn’t help but grinned a little.

“Hey..Look, I need you to come over here now.” I nodded my head as he gave me the address and I made my way over.

Bruce’s POV

Wiping my hand for god knows how many times against my shirt again, I paced around the floor waiting for Ashley. This is the most difficult decision in my life, no, not that I didn’t know my answer to the question but what her answer is the reason making me sweat. Finally I heard some footsteps and I turn around.

“Mr Layne, your guest has arrived. Do I turn on the lights now?” I nodded to the man and gestured him to hurry. With a brief acknowledgment, the man walked away. This is it. I took a deep breath when I saw Ashley walking over.

“Ashley! Over here.” She turned towards me and hurried over. I gave her a cheeky smile before planting a kiss on her lips.

“What’s this all about?” She looked around as I shifted uneasily on my feet. I waited anxiously for the damn lights to turn on. Why is it so slow.. Yes!

I turned to her when she gave a grasp of surprise when the lights turned on, the glass beneath us shone a white light.

“Ashley. The reason I brought you here..the reason you are here is because I need to tell you how much I love you.” I had to keep myself from mumbling because I was that nervous. “I know that we had our ups and down, I hurt you deeply before but now I promise I won’t anymore. Please don’t leave me again ever. Please?” I was embarrassed at this point, but for her, anything is possible. I searched carefully at her expression, when she smiled I slowly fumbled into my pocket to take out the box. I knelt down on one knee and I smiled up at her when she gave a surprised and cute face.

“Will you marry me? I know I am a dick sometimes but I love you.” I was sweating a bit now when she just stared at me shocked.

“Just say yes you idiot!” Ashley jumped and we both turned to the source of interruption. Pam was waving a hand at Ashley to hurry. I chuckled slightly and turned back to her. My smile thinned when her hand pushed me up to stand.

“I love you too Bruce.” She stepped forward and kissed me. I grabbed her by the waist and deepened the kiss.

“Yes, I do.”  The words that she whispered into my ears blanked my mind for a while.

“Yes! Yes! She said yes!” I couldn’t stop myself as I jumped around a bit while she laughed. Pam ran over and Dan appeared and patted my back.

“Congrats, treat her well Bruce. You know I will still kick your ass if you hurt her.” Dan smiled at me which I returned.

“I won’t, no worries.” I pulled Ashley into my arms as I beamed at them.

“Alright! Time to celebrate!” Pam shouted and we laughed when rose petals started falling from above. There was applause as the management people walked in, bringing champagne, trolleys of food and roses. I took the bouquet and handed it over to Ashley.

“I love you. Forever.” I kissed her temple when she took the roses and hugged her from behind as music sounded.

“The party’s a little lonely isn’t it?” I chuckled when she voiced out.

“Well…there’s actually only going to be the two of us. I asked Pam and Dan to come over to prevent you from running away.” I laughed when she slapped my arm playfully.

“Bad boy..shh.” I laughed louder when she stomped her foot.
