I had continued faking my smile until it hurts. I was talking with Jacob who was showing my office, telling me how the little gadgets worked. He placed a pile of folders on my table, explaining to me the different sections that i need to take notice when dealing with the law here.  I was running through one of the folders when Jacob leaned closer to me. He was dark haired, had firm chiselled features that stood out and a good body to boot.

"So.. How about a dinner tonight so i can explain more to you?" I looked up from the papers and saw Jacob smiling. I placed a finger on my chin, teasing him like i was thinking and stood up. He elude sexiness but it didn't had any effect on me. Not since Bruce is still on my mind.

"Hmm.." I walked around the room while Jacob followed me. I was nearing the door, pretending to stare at the walls

"Well? I'm quite an entertainer if you're thinking about that." Jacob grinned at my widened eyes as i smiled.

"Hmm.. I think.. It's better if you left me alone for a while." I opened the door and pushed him slightly in the chest. He laughed and shook his head.

"Alright, my lady. If you insist. But, if you changed your mind, call me. Line number twelve." Jacob smirked and inclined his head, turning around and walked away. I heaved a sigh of relief and closed the door, walking to the chair. I was tired, and it isn't even lunch time yet. I rubbed my paralysed cheeks and blew the strands of hair away that drooped on my face. My heart clenched tightly when i re-winded the scenes of my meeting with Bruce. His hair had been cut shorter, making his handsome face more refined. His body is still fit, if not bigger, telling me that he still worked out. The moment he opened the door, my heart paralysed. I almost stopped breathing when i talked to him, his eyes boring into mine as i kept a straight face. I had remained expressionless when i saw him whispering into his secretary ears, while my heart is doing the stabbing dance, very good indeed. He had moved on like he promised and didn't gave me a second glance that told me he didn't. I shook my head and ruffled my hair, making it messy before pulling the band down, retying my hair again. I slapped my cheeks and got back to work, i need to get him out of my head. His smile, his eyes, the way he touched me when i'm in his arms.. Ugh.. What the hell am i thinking? I buried my head in my hands before a knock sounded on my door.

"Ashley? We're going to a brunch with one of our clients and-" Bruce cut short when he saw my face. I was shocked and he must have seen it too. The last thing i wanted him to see is my ruined make up when i rubbed my face furiously just now with my tears.

"Erm.. Yeah?"  I composed myself and turned my head away. I took out my compact mirror and redo my make up before facing him who was standing in front of me.

"Did I missed something?" Bruce was expressionless when he looked at me. I shrugged and made a poker face.

"Nothing. So you said something about a..?" Bruce looked away and walked to the sofa on the other corner of my office.

"A brunch. We're leaving in an hour's time." Bruce sat down, his hands clasped in front of him, his elbows balancing on his knees. I tore my eyes away from his cold stare and pretended to concentrate on the papers in front of me.

"Okay, i'll just give a brief look through the files and we leave." I tried to sound as nonchalant as possible, ignoring him. I heard a slapping sound as he stood up, my eyes glancing at him briefly before returning to the words in front of me that i couldn't see.

"I get you in an hour's time." I nodded my head without looking up and heard my door clicked. I heaved a sigh of relief and looked up. I leaned back into my chair before closing my eyes, steadying my breathing. I need a drink. Now. I shook my head and opened my eyes, putting pure concentration on the files in front of me. I was through the sixth file when Bruce walked in without knocking.
