Bruce's house is bigger than i thought. Uncle Stanley and Aunt Beatrice hugged me before ushering my Dad and I to the dining table. My face lit up when i saw Bruce and he smiled at me. He was avoiding my gaze the whole time during the dinner which made me confused.
"Crissy! Stop that rapping on the table." Aunt Beatrice was scolding Bruce's sister Crissy who apparently used the table as a drum. Aunt Beatrice apologised for her daughter's behaviour and told us how her daughter drove her crazy with all the rock band music that blasted in the house every night. I stifled a laugh when Crissy stuck out her tongue and used her hand to make yakking gestures before she was shooed upstairs back into her room. Sure enough, a moment later rock music was blasting out of her room.
"Go get your sister to turn off that nasty thing before i threw it out of the window." Bruce obeyed and retreated from the table, walking out of the dining room.
"I'm so sorry for her erratic behaviour. If only my daughter can be like yours. I'm so envious of you, Andrew." My Dad laughed and i thanked her for her compliment. Obviously she doesn't know my habits. I got excused from their 'adult' conversations and went upstairs, trying to find Bruce. I need to know what happened between him and Dan.
I was nearing to what seems to be Crissy's room whose door is plastered with signs of 'keep out' , 'you sucks' and the likes. I stood outside the door which was ajar a bit, debating over with myself to knock or wait till Bruce comes out. I could hear them talking inside as Crissy had turned off the music. I felt bad for overhearing their conversation but i couldn't keep my curiosity to see how their sibling relationship looks like. Obviously i didn't know since i had none.
"So you can't bring yourself to do it?" I heard Crissy said. There were some noises of cds being racked before Bruce spoke.
"Yeah. Enough of that. I'll sort it myself." I had to strained my ears to hear because Bruce is speaking too softly. I placed a hand on the wall beside the door before i heard Bruce spoke again.
"Just keep that thing off or mom will throw it out." I panicked when i heard footsteps nearing.
"Yeah yeah, whatever." Bruce looked shocked when he found me with my body bent over a little as i was turning away from the door. Shit.
"Ashley? What are you doing?" I blushed and noticed he was a bit flustered.
"Erm.. I.." I slapped myself mentally. I was lost for words as he stared my face.
"Come with me." Bruce grabbed my hand when Crissy asked him what is it. I was pulled along to his room which was further down the hall with a dark brown door.
"So you heard that?" Bruce was standing with his back facing me. He closed the door and took a deep breath before turning to face me. His head hung a little as he looked at me.
"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation with your- " I was flinging my arms around trying to deny what i done. Bruce laughed at my flustered self as i blushed.
"It's okay.. i just wanted to know how much you heard." Bruce went over to his bed and gestured me to sit with him. I walked over and sat on it, my eyesight roaming his room. It feels.. i don't know. Embarrassing?
"Just normal stuff about you and your sister." Bruce gave a sign of relief. I turned my head to face him and he run his hand through his hair before smiling.
"Nothing else?" I nodded and he grinned.
"Can you tell me what happened at school today? I couldn't reach Dan so i just had to ask you." Bruce looked reluctant when i asked him but nodded after clearing his throat.
