One year and nine months ago

Aleta walked through the Ark Library searching for an interesting book to read. Her fingers skimmed the spines of the different books as she passed by them. She stopped in front of one of the old book shelves and grabbed a book. It was an old journal, which seemed to have been from Earth.

She flipped it open to the first page and began to read it. The handwriting was slightly messy but neat enough to where it could be read. She walked over to a table and sat down, placing the journal on top of the table. She rested her head in the palm of her hand.

It was a diary, she soon began to realize, and the first page was the entry. As she continued reading, she found herself immersed in the life of whoever the journal had belonged to. The owner of the diary had a fairly interesting life. They made it seem like Earth was amazing but awful at the same time.

But to Aleta, any place would be better than the Ark. "What are you reading?" A voice asked. Aleta looked up and smiled lazily up at Bellamy. "A diary. It's from Earth," she answered. Bellamy pulled out a chair and sat down across from her. He picked up the diary and read the page that she was reading.

"Wow. This is really, wow," Bellamy said as he read the words scribbled on the page. "Yeah, it's pretty deep," Aleta replied. Bellamy looked up at her and smiled m. "How long have you been waiting?" He asks. Aleta let out a fake sigh. "For so long. Like, ten whole minutes," she answered with a smile and he laughed, which caused her smile to widen.

"Well, sorry I made you wait. I had something to take care of," he said softly. Aleta waved her hand in dismissal. "It's fine," she assured. Bellamy slid the journal back over to her and laid his hands on the table. "So, I've been thinking," he started. "What have you been thinking about?" Aleta asked, closing the journal and leaning forward.

"Do you ever wonder about the different places that used to exist. You know, countries and stuff?" He asked. Aleta thought for a moment. "Not really. I mean, we learn about them in class," she replied. "Yeah but, we learn the bare minimum. I want to know as much as I can about the different countries and cities that were on Earth," Bellamy explained.

"Is there a point to all of this?" Aleta asked in amusement. "I was thinking that maybe, you and I could try and find out information about the different places that used to exist on Earth. I found this book about geography and came across this country named Italy. It seems like a place that I'm sure you would have loved to have visited," Bellamy replied.

Aleta smiled, "Okay, tell me about Italy." A smile formed onto Bellamy's face and he began to tell her everything that he knew. He looked so happy about telling her everything and it made her happy.
