Clair's POV
Kris shoved me into a corner, keeping his back to me, he actually fought the guards that came at me, and believe me there was alot of them. What amazed me even more was that he was actually winning, them men were falling at his feet.
On the other side of the room, the man who had came through the door just in the nick of time was fighting the king. He was good, i mean really good. He was also extremely handsome. But it wasnt his looks that struck me, it was the fact that i knew exactly who i was and i had never even met him before. He was the voice that had been in my head.
My protector.
"Claire run!"
Kris was trying to shove me out the door, i stepped around dead men, starring in horror at their bloody bodys. Kris was fighting off more of them as he tried to get me out.
"No!" I exclaimed "Im not leaving you"
With a swish of his sword another man fell at our feet. Kris turned to me, he grabbed my shoulders and looked deep into my eyes.
"Listen to me" He said, his voice harsh but in a worried way "You need to run, i need you to run as far as possible. Back to the cabin if you can, just run, dont stop. Dont come back for me, just run!"
For a moment when i looked into his eyes it was as if i were looking into his human face, his eyes sparked and crackled blue just like before. I blinked and that was gone, Kris shoved me once again and turned back to the bral. I stumbled back a couple of steps and then started running just like he had wanted me to.
I ran hard through the halls, desperate to get as far away from here as possible. I had to get to safety, it was what he wanted. For me to be safe, for me to be away from here.
I could see the door now, i could see the large rocky path that lead down the mountian. I was so close to freedome that i could taste it.
I skidded to a halt just at the thresh hold. What was a i doing? i had spent weeks in agonizing pain because i thought Kris was dead. Now that i found him was i really going to let him die? Of course there was the chance that he wouldnt but that was just not a chance i was willing to take.
A dead soldier lay at my feet, in his hand was a sword that he would no longer use. Reaching down i picked it up, surprised out how heavey it really was. But i could lift it, i could swing it to.
I ran back up the huge staircase that i had just come from. Now that i had been through the halls once it wasnt hard to figure out where i was going. It helped that i could still hear the shouts and noise comming from my room. When i entered i was pleasently surprised to see that many of the soldiers had falled, but still horrified to see that Kris and my guardian were still extremely outnumbered.
I jumped into the brawl, quikly shoving the pointy end of my sword into one of the bad soldiers. He had the same look of shock on his face as i did when he fell to the floor, right before he died. I pulled the sword out and moved on. I was no skilled swordsman, but i wasnt actualling doing half bad. It also helped that the king was screaming at the guards not to harm me and the men were so confused that they didnt know what to do.
I had just caused another soldier to fall when a hand grabbed the back of my dress and yarded me backwards.
"What the hell do you think your doing?" The big blond man that i recognized as my guardian demanded, at the same time he slashed his sword out and another soldier fell.
"Helping" I replied, struggling against his grip, trying to break free "Let me go"
He spun around, so that our backs were to the wall but so that we were facing the rest of the room
"I thought you told her to run" He yelled
"I did" Kris grunted as he faught off two men "She's never listened to me"
I huffed impaitently and then wriggled free of Thomas's hand. I learched forward and met swords with a man who was fast aproaching. Just as our swords met another came from the side and caused the man to fall to the ground. My Nutcracker was at my side now.
"I told you to leave!" He barked, still keeping an eye on what was happening around us. Only a few men still stood, and they were becoming more weary of us.
"How can i leave!" I argued "I just found you! im not losing you again"
"You wont" He said "Just go"
He was lieying, and i knew it. Thomas had taken on the few remaining men, leaving me to take on my Nutcracker.
"No Kristopher" I snapped, my eyes brimming up with tears "I am not leaving you, not after all of this time, not after everything we have been through"
A soldier escaped Thomas and attacked, Kris fought him with ease. I stepped back to give him more room.
"You have never listened to me" Kris huffed as he fought against the man "Why cant you just go already Claire? its not safe here, if you dont run we are both dead"
"Im not leaving!" I shrieked "Not until you know that i love you"
The sound of metal hitting the floor echoed through the room as the soldier fell at the Nutcrackers feet. Slowly, he turned around to face me. Utter and complete shock on his face.
"What?" He asked, his voice comming out in a breathy gasp
"You heared me" I said, biting my lip "Im not saying it again"
The last of the soldiers dropped and Thomas's feet, he turned to watch us both, studying us quitly. Nutcracker and I just stood there, starring at each other.
"Are you sure?" He asked "You swore you hated me"
I shook my head
"Iv always loved you" I whispered "I just wouldnt admit it"
There was another short silence as the Nutcracker pondered this, but i had barley counted five heart beats before he took the few steps there were between us and took my face in his cool wooden hands. I stared up into his big blue eyes.
My Nutcracker
"I love you to" He whispered
And then he kissed me. I closed my eyes and kissed him back, ignoring the fact that his lips were unmoving under mine. All that mattered was that the one person in the world that i loved was alive and that he was here with me.
And then something changed. The hands that cupped my face turned warm, instead of pressing into my face with the unyielding texture of wood, they gently molded against my cheek the way a real hand would. The lips that i kissed became warm as well, warmer then anything else that i touched, they fit against my mouth to, as though that was the place they were made for.
I opened my eyes and leaned back slightly. My nutcracker was gone, there was no sighn of him left in the room, not anything. Instead in front of me stood a man, dressed in a white tunic and black leather pants. I looked up and down him in amazment, studying every feature of him.
He had the same nose
He had the same color hair
He had the same heart stopping, electric blue eyes.
Kristopher.
He looked down at himself, at his hands. He touched his face carefully, then he looked up at me, pure amazement in his eyes. He smiled, it wasnt the same cocky smile i was used to, this was a smile of pure joy, and love, unmistakable love.
I couldnt believe it, he had changed. He was back! my Kristopher was back, and even more importantly, he loved me!
I was just about to throw myself into his arms when suddenly a sharp blade protruded from his chest, covered in shimmering blood. I gasped in horror as he looked down at it, shock written all over his face.
And then he hit the floor.
Dead.
