Apartment in MM
Lauryn P.O.V.
After lots of persuading to my mother and much review from her, Chris finally managed to convince her on my birthday to let us move into our own apartment.
The one he had researched was anything I could've ever dreamed of. It was on the second floor and had a beautiful balcony with flower baskets hanging along it that connected to the living room. Once inside, there was an immediate spiral staircase in the center of the floor that led to three upstairs bedrooms. In the master bedroom, there were three tall windows that looked out on the street and had a master bathroom connected. In the babies room which was next door to our room, there was a jack-and-jill bathroom that linked the two other bedrooms together. Downstairs held a living room, dining room, and open kitchen.
Besides the inside amenities, the are was wonderful: only 10 minutes from my mom's house, in a great neighborhood and school district, and was close to everything I needed to be around.
As we walked up the steps, Chris placed a kiss on my cheek.
"What was that for?" I asked, smiling and looking over at him.
"I'm so happy," he said. Over the past month of moving and preparation for the baby, we'd bonded a lot and I knew I'd be bringing this baby into a happy family. I only had one more month left before our little one was due and I was anxiously waiting for the month to change to February.
We settled in on the couch and I turned on the TV. Chris was laying in between my legs and started rubbing my stomach while massaged his back. In spur of the moment, Chris' phone rang and I reached for it off the table.
"The number is blocked baby," I said, reading it to him. He looked up and snatched it before getting off the couch.
He walked towards the dining room but I turned the TV down to try and hear what he was saying.
The only words I could make out were "Where are you?" and What do you want?" before he came back into the room.
I started to get anxious when he slipped his phone in his pocket and grabbed his keys off the coffee table. "Chris, what's wrong?"
"I've gotta go, baby girl," he told me, kissing my forehead. "I'll be back before it gets dark, I promise." I looked out the balcony and saw the sun setting.
"Okay," I responded, nodding my head. "Be safe." I kissed his lips and listened to his footsteps exit the door. I was worried for him but I knew it was probably nothing and decided to take a nap.
By the time I woke back up, it was 11:00 at night and there was no sign of Chris which made me feel off. I tried calling his phone but it was going straight to voicemail.
Where was he?
