Chapter Eighteen:

Will decided if they were to ditch he was going to spend his day warm on the beach. "We've gotta get swimsuits if we're going to the beach," he said as they walked.

"We're going to swim?"

Will sent him a strange look. "You don't swim when you go to the beach?"

Nico shrugged. "No not normally. I kinda just sit in the sand and read and stuff," he mumbled.

"Well that destroys the purpose of going to the beach! Come on, today you are going in the water."

Nico stood on the sand. "Maybe we should've gone to the park instead," he said staring at the waves crashing onto the surf.

Will rolled his eyes. "Don't be a baby," he laughed pulling Nico by his arm to a spot directly under the sun.

"Ugh," Nico complained and begun setting up his umbrella. Before they went to the beach they had stopped at their respective houses and picked up their beach things.

"The sun is an important nutrient Neeks," Will said cheekily pointing up at the yellow orb in the sky. "Vitamin D."

Nico ignored him and continued laying out his blanket. Suddenly a patch of sand was kicked up onto his blanket and he glared up at the person who had done it.

"Are you stalking me or what Percy?" he accused crossing his arms

Percy laughed. "Bro if its anyone you're stalking me, I've been here since the morning."

Nico frowned pushing the sand off his blanket. "Your mom's going to kill you," he stated bluntly.

"Mental health day. Mom's allowed it," he said smugly.

From a few feet away came Annabeth's voice. "Yeah right, on the agreement that your grades pick up." She flicked her hair over her shoulder and continued reading the book she had brought. "And you better start getting higher grades. I am not graduating without you."

Will stifled a laugh. "Your so lucky, my mom wouldn't give me a day off even if I promised I'd do the house work for a month."

"Go make the best of today then," Nico told him nodding out towards the water.

"Ah, but not without you," he said then bent down and tossed Nico over his shoulder.

Nico shrieked at the sudden movement. "Put me down William!" he ordered kicking his legs up and down in the air. "Put me down this very instant.

"As you wish my darling," Will said then placed Nico down in the cold water. The waves only managed to reach his waist but he began cursing as if his arm was cut off.

"Water and I do not agree," he stated and he begun to wade out of the water. Percy noticed this and ran full speed up to the two jumping in beside Nico. A large sum of water splashed out at his face.

Percy looked at Nico. "Sorry," he said trying to stop the upcoming laugh as he high-fived Will discretely.

"Okay that's it. Chicken Fight!"

Percy rushed out of the water and pulled up Annabeth. "Your on my team Wisegirl," he said and began to run back to the surf.

Annabeth's book fell halfway into the sand and she opened her mouth to complain but they had already arrived in the water. She sighed and got on his shoulders preparing to win.

"I thought you didn't like the water," Percy taunted looking up at Nico who was currently on Will's shoulders.

Nico raised an eyebrow. "Then I suppose I'll just have to win."

"That's going to be a challenge," Annabeth commented.

Percy nodded grinning. "Okay, ONE, TWO, THREE. GO!"

Nico and Annabeth began pushing at each other attempting to cause the other to fall. Whilst holding them up, Percy and Will tried to maintain balance and not fall themselves.

"So how's it going with you and Neeks?" Percy asked, digging his feet into the sand for better hold.

"Good," he replied. "How 'bout you and Annabeth?"

"All good."

Their  small talk was interrupted by a shrill string of curses then followed by a loud splash of water. Nico's head emerged from the water. "How dare you," he said, eyes narrow.

Will bit his lip and makig the quick decision began to run out of the water.

"I'm still gonna get you!" Nico shouted making his way out to land.

"Ooooh I'm so scared," Will taunted stopping for a moment to make a face at Nico. That moment was all Nico needed to speed up and reach Will.

Nico tackled Will with all his force, which compared to the taller and more muscularly built boy, wasn't so much and only managed to nock Will to the ground.

"Got you," Nico stated, still on top of Will.

Will smiled. "That you did." He leaned upward and pecked Nico on the lips.

"Otp," Percy whispered a distance away.
