Dee's POVKi is starting to explain the story but I put up a finger signaling her to hold on a minute. I look down at my phone and type a response:
dee: as much as I don't want to speak to you, go ahead.
dar: i'd rather do this in person
dee: you're makin me uncomfortable but aight.
dar: the park at 7?
dee: secret spot?
dar: secret spot. The park is where Darian and I used to always go when we needed to talk things out or get sorted through a disagreement. It'll bring back memories to go there, but if it's necessary, I'll go.
Ki looks at me as if waiting to continue her story. Before she can continue speaking, I cut her off, "Is there something you aren't telling me?" She looks around, "Um, no? I'm trying to tell you but you won't listen." I sigh, "Well can we talk about it later?" I say looking at the time, it's 6:35. She shrugs, "But weren't we in the middle of a conversation?" I stand up, "Yeah, and I'm sorry but I have somewhere to be at 7." Before she constructs a response, I brush past her and walk down the stairs to wake up Trent. Ki comes down the stairs aggravated and tells me goodbye, then walks out of the door and drives off. I didn't even have to wake Trent up, Kiara slamming the door already did that. He jumped up, "Whoa what was that?" I roll my eyes, "Don't pay attention to it." He looks around rubbing his eyes, "Where's Ki?" I shrug, "She left, she's in one of her moods." He nods his head as if to say okay. I turn the tv off, "Can you take me to the park? I have to meet someone at 7," I tell him, looking down at my phone. He stands up, "Sure, who?" I look up from my phone, "Classified information." He sighs, "Aight let's go."
When we get to the park, I unplug my phone from Trent's charger, "Thanks, I'll text you later." He nods and I get out and start walking towards Darian and I's secret spot.
Trent's POV
I'm a little suspicious that Dee won't tell me who she's meeting here. It's going on 7 o'clock with means it's starting to darken outside. I don't know if I trust her to be here with just anybody. Although I just met her and she's my friend, there's something about her that I just can't put my finger on. I'm not sure if it's her looks or her charisma but either way, I know I'm not going to leave her here alone. I park my car in a far parking lot and turn it off, waiting to see if I'll eventually watch her return.
Dee's POV
I walk to the secret spot and Darian's already there waiting for me. I halfway smile, "I guess 6:54 is just as good as 7." He laughs, "That humor of yours, that's part of what I love." I roll my eyes, "That's not what I'm here for, we both know that." He chuckles, "Okay, okay. On a more serious note, we need to talk." I sit next to him on the bench that is there, "I know that, that's why I'm here." He sighs, "Can you just take me seriously for a minute?" I clear my throat indicating my apology. He looks at me, "Okay, don't be upset or react in any bizarre way, but Kiara is bad news." I look at him in disbelief considering she just told me the same thing about him. He furrows his eyebrows and continues talking, "While you were away, there were lot's of parties. There were birthday parties, legal kickbacks, summer parties, just seasonal parties. But either way, there were parties. Well, at one of these parties, kinda soon after you left, Kiara was sitting alone. No socializing or mingling in any way. I think she missed you a bit. Anyway, I went over there and talked to her, ya know invited her to hang with the rest of us because I knew how she was feeling considering I kind of missed you too. " I rolled my eyes at that comment but nodded at him to keep going. "She agreed to come chill with us, so everyone went down to game room to play a couple of games of pool and just chill. In between games, Ki and I just help conversations, some deeper than others, but never on more than a friendly level." I nodded again, signaling for him to continue. "A few hours and a few conversations later, Ki told me her mom was outside but she didn't feel safe to walk outside by herself. So I had no problem walking her outside. We walked down the stairs and walked outside to the porch. When we got outside, no one was there waiting for her." I furrow my eyebrows in confusion but he keeps going. "I asked her where her mom was and she said she was on her way. We just stood there kind of awkwardly until she started a conversation about how she was glad she came to the party. It was a normal conversation until she went into detail about how much she missed you and how much I made it better. She said that I filled the gap that you left behind. Then out of no where, she kissed me Dee."
Automatically I started to bounce my knee, a habit I did when I was upset. I bit my bottom lip and looked away, holding back tears that were about to fall. My best friend. My very best friend, kissed my ex boyfriend. So many things were running through my head at this point.
I felt a hand on my leg, which calmed me down a little bit. Darian turned my head back to him, "But I immediately pulled away. I told her how messed up she was for doing it. She claimed it was an accident but I told her that betraying her bestfriend could never be an accident." My head was facing him, but my eyes were still looking down. He started to speak lower, "I told her I could never do that to you," He wiped the tear that was falling down my face, "I told her that you were the best thing that has ever happened to me. I told her that I loved you and only you and that everything I did was a mistake."
I looked up to make eye contact with him, he slowly leaned in, and when his lips touched mine, it felt like everything would be okay...
