(short chapter)
Dee's POV
It's 2:30, I'm getting endless texts from Darian. I ignore them all. I text Trent:
d: trent?
t: wassup?
d: can you come over?
t: i thought you were testing
d: i finished already
t: yeah, is everything okay?
d: not really
t: ok im omwI lock my phone and wait outside for Trent.
He pulls up 15 minutes later. I walk up to his car, "Actually, can we go to the park?" He nods and I get into the car. He drives off, "Dee, what's wrong?" I look out of the window, "It's a long story.." He thinks for a second, "Well, I hope you don't mind staying at the park for a while." I sigh, but we both stay silent for the rest of the drive.
We pull up at the park, "Where do you want to go?" he asks me. I grab my phone, "Follow me." We get out of the car and start walking towards Darian and I's secret spot. We walk through the woods and to the bench. He hesitates, "Is this where you and--" I cut him off, "Please don't say his name. But yes. It is." He sits next to me, "Now, tell me what's wrong." I take a deep breath and then proceed to tell him the full story of what's been happening in the past two days. He listened intently as I continued but got a little distant after I mentioned Darian and I's kiss. I grabbed his hand, and he calmed down a little. I finished the story, "...and so that's why I'm here, telling you all of this, because I don't know what to do or how to feel." He nods his head in understanding and then sighs, "Well, honestly, I don't know how you should feel, I think you just need a break from them two and you just need to relax and stop overthinking." I nod and start to play with my fingers. My phone buzzes, but I ignore it. He looks at me, "You'll be okay though, maybe it was a good thing, so you could see who's really down for you..." I make a confused expression, "What do you mean?" He grabs his phone from his pocket, "Well, think about who was there before and after success,
not just after." I look at him, "So you mean Kiara?" He shrugs, "I don't know, seems logical." I think for a minute, "Hmm, good advice." He smiles, "It's what I'm here for."Now is as good of a time as any, to find out more answers.
"Trent?" I ask. He looks up from his phone, "Hmm?" I hesitate before responding, "Do you think anyone could ever have real feelings for me?" He looks at me in confusion, "What do you mean real feelings?" he says. I sigh, "Like real life feelings, not feelings for my chain, or my bars, or my success, but feelings for me?" He halfway smiles, "Well yeah, of course they can. If they get to know the real you." I take a deep breath, "Do you?" He looks back down at his phone, "Do I what?" I roll my eyes, "Duh, have feelings for me?" I ask. He looks around, "Well, I don't not have feelings for you." I lock my phone, "So you do?" He looks at me, "Not necessarily. Look, I just don't think you should be involved with a guy like me." I furrow my eyebrows, "A guy like you? What's a guy like you?" He sighs, "I'm not very typical. With me comes a lot of complications. I have a dark background, and it's not everything it seems." I look at him, "Oh. Well don't worry, I never said I had feelings for you, I was just asking." He chuckles, "Okay, okay."
Dark past? Complications?
