Madison drove home from Indianpolis and arrives back at her apartment. She goes in and lays down on the bed. It was a long drive and her back was hurting and morning sickness was rearing it's ugly head. She took a zofron and tried to relax. Kris had been blowing up her phone with texts and calls. Madison wasn't ready yet to talk to him. She didn't know yet if she could forgive him. She was catching up on email and work stuff when there was a knock at the door.
"Who the hell could that be?" Madison says getting up going to the door.
She looked through the peep hole not seeing anyone.
"What the hell." Madison says.
That was when the knock happened again. She looks out the again seing Liz standing there.
"Go away Liz I don't want to talk to you." Madison says through the door.
"Please Madison let me in. We need to talk." Liz says.
Madison opens the door a crack.
"What do you want?" Madison snaps.
"Can I please come in." Liz asks.
"Fine five minutes." Madison says opening the door letting her in.
She cloes the door.
"Thanks Madison. Look I know I am the last person you want to see right now but I needed to talk to you." Liz says.
"About what?" Madison says.
"Look I am sorry that I hurt you Madison that was not my intention nor was it Kris's. We drank wine got drunk was hurting and did the unthinkable. I hope we can move past this because I miss you. You were one of the only girlfriends I had." Liz says.
"Well maybe you should have thought about that when you slept with my fiancée oh and not only did you sleep with him you got knocked up." Madison snaps.
"I know trust me that wasn't the plan. Hell I didn't even plan on sleeping with Kris. I don't love him like that. We are toxic as a couple. I am glad we remained friends which is how it's going to stay." Liz says.
"Why did you come here?" Madison says.
"Look you can be mad at me all you want. You can blame me, hate me whatever. But don't take it out on Kris. He really loves you Madison." Liz says.
"I gave you five minutes now get out." Madison says.
"Okay but just remember Kris is a great guy. He made a mistake one that will never happen again and he really does love you. I have seen the way he looks at you. He never looked at me like that. So just remember that." Liz says leaving.
Madison slammed the door behind her locking it. She goes into her bedroom. She grabs her jersey Kris gave her and lays down on the bed crying. It still smelt of him. She missed him so much and loved him even more. She wasn't sleeping thinking about him. She didn't know if she could live without him but she didn't know if she could forgive him.
That was when her phone went off. She sees the texts from Kris.
"God I don't know how much longer I can live like this." Madison says through tears.
That was when she got the phone call from the locak jail letting her know that Brantley Jones had been released from jail. He served his time. He was one of her rapists.
"Oh god I need Kris. I will not feel safe here alone without him." Madison says.
She gets up packs a few bags. She had stuff there but wanted more. She grabs her gun the one she was permited to carry and her purse and keys. She throws her laptop phone and ipad in her purse along with the chargers. She then heads to the garage to get in her car. She checks to make sure no one was in the backseat and then gets in locking the doors behind her. She starts the car and heads out to Kris's checking her rearview every few seconds making sure she wasn't followed. She arrives at Kris's house and uses the device he had installed in her car to open the garage door and drives in shutting it behind her. She knew she would be safe there he wouldn't know where Kris lived and he wouldn't know where to find her. She had to protect herself and the twins.
She goes into the house locking the doors behind her and turning on the alarm system.
That was when she heard Ashes cries from the crate. She went and got her out cuddling her. She had gotten so much bigger since she last saw her. Ashes licks her face.
'Yeah baby mama missed you too." Madison says kissing her nose.
She knew Ashes would also keep her safe.
She knew that her and Kris needed to talk. And they would as soon as he got home.
"Kris when you get back from DC we need to talk." Madison texts Kris.
She head up to Kris's bedroom. She strips out of her clothes putting on his jersey and climbing in bed. She grabs his pillow cuddling it inhaling his scent.
Ashes climbed up with her laying beside her. Madison finely fell asleep.
