"Austin can you grab the diaper bag!" I called over my shoulder.
I looked down at my little baby girl. Emma Marie Cummings. As it turns out, the doctor had made the mistake of reading the images incorrectly, little miss Emma being stubborn and not letting anyone know whether or not she was a boy or a girl. This happens every now and then.
The first month had flown by, but it was the best month of my life. I'd have to say that Austin would have agreed. Next week we would be celebrating the two months our little angel has been with us. Mom was doing much better, the doctor put her on medicine to help with her blood pressure so that she wouldn't over work her body.
"Okay babe, sorry I had to put more diapers in it." Austin said looking over my shoulder at Emma.
"Hi baby girl, daddy's here. You ready to try church for the first time?" Austin cooed at her.
"Here I'll go get the car seat." I smiled at him as he picked her up off the couch.
...
Once we were all buckled up in the car, we went right to church so we wouldn't be late. Our church was so nice and welcoming. Every Sunday we used to go until we had our baby because we were scared she wouldn't be able to stay quiet throughout the service. Now that we have mastered the techniques and tricks to calm her down (bottle and binky) we feel okay to try church service with her. Anyway, we love showing her off because she's a little cutie. Austin says she gets it from him but she gets it all from me in reality.
We walked in and Austin carried Emma in her convertible car seat/baby carrier. We gave hugs to everyone we saw as they welcomed us back. They all cooed at Emma and said she was beautiful. Austin and I were proud parents to say nonetheless. Austin held my hand through out the service and Emma sat in between us.
After the sermon Pastor McCarthy came up to us and we all talked for a little while. He never really had the chance to meet little Emma so now he finally said hello.
"She's perfect you two. Have you thought about baptizing her yet?" He asked.
"We would love to, whenever she's old enough to do so." I smiled.
"We could do it within these next few weeks if you'd like. You could let all of your family know about the service so that they may all attend." He smiled.
"That sounds great Pastor McCarthy." Austin replied with a smile.
Then I felt a hand on my back as we stood near the church door to leave. I turned to see my long-lost best friend.
"Jenna!" I shrieked. I gave her a big hug.
"Hey, you look lovely! Oh and look at this little beauty." Jenna said before going to hold Emma's tiny hand.
Emma gave a little smiled and we all laughed. The next second later, another long lost friend came walking up.
Lucas smiled big and shook Austin's hand.
"How you doin' man?" Lucas asked Austin as us girls talked about Emma still.
"Great dude, we were thinking about going out to lunch. You guys can come if you want to."
"That would be great." I added to Austin's idea.
I smiled and looked from Jenna to Lucas.
"That sounds good, Where do you guys wanna meet at?" Jenna asked.
"I'm craving Italian." I mentioned.
"You aren't pregnant again are you?" Lucas asked jokingly. I shook my head smiling as Austin laughed.
