A/N: Hello, my amazing readers,

The following five parts will be about the journey of this servant girl who lived in Ancient Roman Empire, around present-day Italy. This story takes place on the subject of Mount Vesuvius, which covers Pompeii in its shadows.  ;)

Characters:

main character: Aurelianus

Diary's name: Cassia

Aurelianus's sister: Augusta

Aurelianus's master (lady): Lady Lucia

Aurelianus's old master: Lucius the elder

Aurelianus's Madame: Madame

Madame's servant, Aurelianus's friend: Silverina

Augusta's master (lady): Lady Martina

Augusta's old master: Lord Martinus

Augusta's unrevealed kitchen boy lover: Cyberus

The diary started with this:

My best friend, Cassia,

It has been a whole year since you were given to me. I can assure you that it has been a very long year. A very long year indeed. You're the only one that truly belonged to me, especially after Mother left us, forever...

Spring, summer, Autumn, Winter, and there's spring again.

The past shall be the past, and may the memories be buried by time.

I still remember the day when I had to go up to Augusta and tell her the truth. I have never cried so many tears prior to that day. Speaking of her, I shall write to her soon. She seems quite lonely at Lord Martinus's place, so I suppose I should make the letter sound pleasant. Maybe that'll pull her out of the grim mood.

I shall commence my draft here, for I don't want to make any mistake on the precious letter paper Madame gave me.

My lovely sister Augusta,

It has been a long time since I last heard from you, I hope you're doing fine. Is lady Martina treating you well? I wish you can come with me and serve Lady Lucia. We've bonded nicely since the arrival of summer, the birds' songs and blooming flowers really make her content.

Maybe that can also cheer up your Lady Martina. Aloe, cinnamon and rose petals really make a lovely scent, you can decorate the rooms with those, maybe that will please the ladies.

Another thing the riches may like is scenting their togas in pleasant herbs. But as you can probably figure, it's surely some hard work to scent velvet.

Again, I wish you a merry time. Hopefully, we can meet soon. I can't wait to see your rosy cheeks and measure how much you've grown.

Your sister who loves her sister,

Aurelianus

Now now, Lady Lucia is calling for me, so I shall leave soon. Madame is also with her, so I suppose they have some big news.

Love you always, Aurelianus
