Dear Cassia,
Just before leaving for the harbor today, Silverina handed me letters from my dear little sister. It's a long story, but I have plenty of time to explain.
Apparently, Augusta wrote this letter at the beginning of summer, and it was received at Lucius the Elder's place a few weeks prior to today. But Young Master took it under my name and hid it in his chamber without informing me.
Fortunately, Servant Silverina, a friend of mine, found it this morning when cleaning Young Master's chamber and reported the incident to Madame.
After hearing about it, Madame got very angry and summoned Young Master to her chamber. Everyone cleaning the dining room with me would've heard it loud and clear, even though it's such a long distance away from Madame's chamber.
Madame then ordered Silverina to hand the letter to me, just before Lady Lucia and I leave for Herculaneum. She didn't make Young Master apologize or say anything to me because after all, I'm a lowly girl servant and he's the future ruler of this family.
Bus besides that, Cassia, I'm just glad Augusta is safe and sound. I was worried when I stopped receiving letters from her on a frequent basis. Because it's unusual for me to wait for more than a month for her reply since we write to each other on such a frequent basis.
Ah, Cassia! Look at that! A giant flock of seagulls! They look so beautiful, do they not? The whiteness and softness of their wings, gliding gracefully in the soothing sea breeze. I wish I can fly like that! To kick off into the air and enjoy the freedom.
Oh, I might've forgotten to tell you, Lady Lucia and I are on the ship to Pompeii currently. We'll stay two nights there and leave for Herculaneum at dawn of the third day. Lady Lucia's resting next to me like an elegant swan. I can't resist but to sketch her beauty.
Oh! I can now see the shores of Stabiae! It's getting closer and closer! I shall wake Lady Lucia soon.
Just before I take my leave and place you back into my bag, I shall carefully store Augusta's letter here, since anything from my dear sister is precious, and you, Cassia, are my most trustworthy friend, aye?
Dear sister Aurelianus,
I'm so excited! Today Lord Martinus announced that Lady Martina and I will be going to Pompeii and spending the rest of summer there! Isn't that wonderful?
Pompeii sound like a glamorous city with all those splendid goods that only the riches can afford!
Lady Martina caught influenza a few days earlier, therefore I suppose the real reason for sending us there is to allow Lady Martina to have a good rest and recover.
Speaking of her, Lady Martina eventually opened up to me! She finally accepted my talkative nature as she no longer covers her ear and groans when I tell her about the odds happening in town.
She even gave a candy today which she claims unwanted. But one man's waste is another's treasure, aye?
As for the others in the household, I'm making many acquaintances too. Like Cyberus the kitchen boy. He's been really nice to me and helped me to fix Lady Martina's cake once.
But after all, my dear sister, I know I was grim over the past few months due to our mother...... But I assure you that I'm now content and cheerful once more!
I should take my leave soon and serve Lady Martina tea.
Your lively sister, Augusta
Dear sister Aurelianus,
I'm now in Pompeii! It's splendid and wonderful! There are so many people! Merchants from all over the Roman Empire are here! Along with a dozen of barbarian traders! Lord Martinus will sure like the wine and olives here, they're of great quality!
Also, Aurelianus, are you really reading my letters carefully? Because it appears to me that you're asking questions that I already explained!
