"Listen, George," Fred's hoarse voice announced brutally the second I picked up the call. "Help me.""Where?!" I stood up with such alert that I forgot I'm in the middle of Science. The stool slid behind me as the teacher barked for me to sit down. I clenched my fist as Fred, my best mate ever, spilled the location.
Without further consideration, I ran straight out the door, knocking over Dean's textbook on the way. But there's no time for that. The only thing I heard as my feet pounced the tiles of the hallways, was wind blowing past my ears, the chatter of the classroom diminished as my hair blew away from my forehead.
"Took you long enough," I was greeted by Brad. The well-known enemy of Fred. "George."
He put extra sass into my name that it tickled my throat when he spoke it.
"Where's Fred?"I swallowed with disgust.
"Where's Dean?" Brad smirked.
"Why would you want her?" I frowned. Dean is one the people I would least expect to have any association with Brad the Brat.
"Oh, I just thought maybe her sister would like to see her one last time..."
"WHAT ON EARTH DID YOU DO TO MAGGIE?!" I yelled before more filthy words escaped his thin lips.
"Don't worry, Gorilla," Brad joked upon my reaction. "Molly's with her."
"AND FRED'S SISTER AS WELL?!"
"Ya."
"I hate you."
"You're welcome......Gorilla."
"Piss off!" I cannot resist my anger as I dialed Fred's number, desperate for a response. "Where are you?!"
"Get Dean..." Fred sounded soft. I've never heard him being so weak. He's amongst the strongest at our school, I've never heard him pant like this as if his lungs are shrinking and shrinking. "...And go somewhere out of s-school."
"Where are you?!" I insisted. If Fred, my best man, have to pant like this, then you may as well as tell me that there will be an earthquake in 10 minutes. "Fred!"
"Leave the s-school..."He's stammering even harder now, every word seemed like an eternity. "They're gonna go there any minute..."
"Who's they?!"
"B-Brad..." With that, he hung up. I clenched my fist harder and punched the wall the way Fred would do if he was here.
I looked at Brad, whose head only reached my chin. However, there is no sign of fear in his eyes as he stared into mine.
I feel exposed.
"I'll get you later," I murmured and controlled the rage within my blood. "Brad, another day."
With that, I turned to leave.
"Don't follow his steps, George," Brad chuckled behind my back, the filthy noise made me want to throw up. "That was the last thing Fred said to me."
I halted, still having my back towards Brad.
"Look at the state he's in."
"I need to help him," I announced. Ignoring Brad's ridiculing response, I sprinted through the schoolyard and towards the science lab.
Get Dean, Get out, Get to safety, Get Fred.
The others know me as Fred's tail. His follower. But the truth is, our relationship is much deeper than that.
