I jumped up from my bed and stretched. New day, old life. Everything went the way it should, cleaning the floor, cooking breakfast, tidying my bedroom, getting the mail and watching the news at exactly 7 am.
Then I accidentally spoiled some cereal onto the table. Damn it, that'll cost me a few minutes and mess up my whole routine! I ran to the sink and grabbed a towel to wipe the little puddle. Then I washed it carefully and hanged it on the rack to dry. There, now I need to wait for it to dry so I can do my dishwashing.
Wait, you saying that it doesn't matter? Hey! It really does make a difference! If the towel is already dirty by the time it touches my plates, it's only going to make my plates even worse!
Okay, it's such a pain to do all these things in one hour and get ready for work on time. 8 am. I pulled on my jacket after folding the towel neatly on the countertop. Time to get to work.
I waited at the bus stop for a good half an hour and the bus still hasn't arrived. Hey, that's weird, usually, it only takes me 27 minutes because by the time I finish reading my newspaper, the front of the bus should've arrived.
I looked over at the horizon. Don't tell me the bus encountered a 'detour' sign, don't tell me the bus had a flat tire, don't tell me I won't be able to read 46 pages of my book while sitting on my special seat. DON'T TELL ME I'M LATE FOR WORK.
Well, I will be late anyway if the bus keeps moving at this speed. I frowned as the huge bus halted at the red traffic light. Now it's COMPLETELY messed up. If there's one extra minute for my bus time, I would read one extra page and by Tuesday next week, I would've finished my book, which I should finish next Wednesday.
So hurry up and get over this red light.
The bus driver seemed to be a bit hot today, I wondered, is that why he turned on the air conditioning? Because it is very, very, annoying! It's making my skin 3 degrees cooler! That means I'm going to have a larger reaction when I get off the bus and go into the sun!
When the bus was two stops away from my workplace, I studied the outside carefully. There, the big, boiling sun, is now officially titled my enemy for the next 10 minutes in which I had to walk from the bus stop to my office.
The bus driver frowned as I hesitated to ponder if I should put my left foot forward or right foot forward. What! It's really important to know which one of your legs are going to be injured by your enemy!
The little five-year-old boy behind me smashed into my butt as he tried to get off the bus blind. But that is the end.
I fell off the bus and landed both of my legs on to the pavement.
Ah, this is bad. I scratched my bottom as I looked down at my legs for a solution. They're slowly tortured by the enemy. That huge, burning, ball of flare.
I tried to do what I usually do, run for the shade in every possible way. But today is really my unlucky day, there's this old lady standing under that tree, and there's that middle-aged man standing under the brick wall, smoking. Oi! That long, the brick wall is usually my forte! Without it, I would definitely get burned!
But that barbarian has just invaded my castle! My beautiful shade! My oasis in a torturing desert! I really do dislike cigarettes, so I guess I have to stay away from this safe-zone.
When I arrived at my unit, half edible, I was very annoyed by how warm my skin is. Feel like I can boil a potato using my elbow. Argh! This glass of water sure is cold. Now I have to experience the awkward moment of shifting into room temperature!
But the day has just started.
