Clementine. Cheerful...

On the outside, at least.

Everything was fine. The group of four, funny classmates, kind teachers (who still give homework) and lots of other joyful memories....such as, crushes.

But, not so good now...

Aria left, without a word. She really drew the group spirit away. Without Aria, Viola appears too quiet compared to Helga and Clementine. Without Aria, Helga appears too crazy compared to Clementine and Viola.

And without Aria...Clementine seem so out of place...so loud.

Beside that, Clementine looked across the room at James, a grin creeped up her face but soon faded as Mr. Brandon slammed her homework back on to her desk.

It was a gentle 'place', but to Clementine, it's a 'slam'.

Since the score look quite out of shape...aka, overweight.

"Clementine, stay back for a while, will you?" Mr. Brandon instructed. Clementine looked up to meet his eyes...ahh. "You don't have a bus to catch, I'd assume?"

"No, sir," Clementine replied, smiling with guilt. " I'll stay back."

"Bye Clem," Helga waved apologetically as she swung her bag on to her shoulders. Viola nodded her goodbye. "Good luck,"

"Thanks, I'll need it," Clementine gave off a shivering laugh. "Later, Helga, Viola."

"Clementine," Mr. Brandon addressed from the teacher's desk. Clementine clenched her fists, slightly sweaty. "We need to talk. Take a seat."

"Yes," Clementine soberly nudged herself onto the soft 'teacher's chair'.

"Well, let's make it straightforward, your science grades have been falling," Mr. Brandon took a deep breath. Or at least it seemed like a deep breathe to Clementine. "Look, ever since the start of the year, I've believed that you are a very gifted student. You had the abilities, the potentials, to understand science."

Clementine swallowed and kept her head low. There are stuff teachers just don't know about.

"And I don't believe you if you say it's because we're doing Biology and Biology is your weak spot," Mr. Brandon took a sip of his coffee and continued. "Your grades started dropping when we were still in Chemistry, Clementine. And may I ask, what caused the big drop?"

"I'm afraid I don't know, Mr. Brandon," Clementine bit her lips. Geez, sometimes it's just hard to say things, okay? "I don't know, I guess I just can't do science anymore."

"Well, to be honest," Mr. Brandon flipped through one of his documents. "In a few weeks, there will be this National Science Challenge, it's a great opportunity, and I was thinking of reserving a spot for you in our school team."

"You said was..."

"Let's make a deal, Clementine, if you get over ninety percent in the next science test, the spot will be yours." Mr. Brandon looked into Clementine's eyes sincerely. His gaze then turned sympathetic. "This year, it's slightly different from the other times, you and your teammates have to all get into the top fourty percent of the preliminary test to do the actual challenge."

"Mr. Brandon," Clementine muttered. " I'll try."

"That's all I wanted to say, now you can go home."
