After feeling nothing hit us, I opened my eyes to see the white wolf with the speckled snout fighting with the rogue.
"Little Luna, you're going to get yourself killed." Brody said scooping me up. The little boy clung to me as Brody dashed for another house.
"Brody, what's happening?" This is like something out of a movie." I said watching the white wolf finish off the rogue.
"I'll explain later." Brody mumbled as he zipped us inside.
After Brody put us in what he called a safe room, he left to go help. I hugged the crying boy and started rubbing his back. He couldn't have been much older than five years old. I started humming to him and rocking hoping that would calm him down. But it was mainly to calm myself down.
"Where's momma?" He cried.
"Momma is in a safe room like this one. After everything calms down, we'll find momma ok? Don't worry, I've got you." I said wiping the tears off his cheeks.
"Are you our Luna?" He asked sniffing.
"I don't know." I mumbled. I hugged him close again and rocked. I hoped this wouldn't take long.
After a few hours the door opened and a woman stepped in. The boy in my arms was asleep and I could tell by the way her face flooded with relief that she was his mother.
"Brian, my sweet little boy!" She whispered. She scooped him up and kissed him. The little one stirred and when he saw his mom he burst into more tears.
"Momma!" They hugged and walked out of the room. I was too tired to get up and my body ached too much. A few seconds after the woman left Alpha Logan walked in. Relief flooded his face as he knelt down next to me.
"Hi, Alpha." I said tiredly. He pulled me in gently and hugged me. I took comfort in his embrace and leaned my head against his shoulder. He picked me up and carried me out of the room. I should be used to the self-conscious feeling by now but I wasn't. As we went passed things I noticed the difference in this house compared to the pack house. The pack house had dark wooden walls while this one had colors. They were simple colors and the furniture matched perfectly.
Alpha carried me up the stairs and down another hallway. I wanted to ask where we were going but I knew I couldn't get an answer. Would I have to learn sign language to understand him? That's if I stay here.
We passed by a picture of some wolves and I tensed. I almost forgot in my tired state men turned into wolves here! Did that mean the man carrying me could turn into one? I looked up at him and found him already staring at me. As if he could guess my unspoken question, he nodded. I sucked in air and tried to wiggle out of his arms.
"NO!" I yelled. He dropped my feet gently but still kept an arm around me. "What are you? What is this place?"
He looked around and then ushered me into a room. The room looked like an office of some sort. Papers scattered the desk with a filing cabinet off to the side still open. Was he working in here when the rogues attacked? Book shelves lined both sides of the walls and a floor to ceiling window finished off the look. I resisted as best I could but he was too strong and I was still weak. He placed me in a seat and quickly scribbled something down.
Please, let me explain.
"Explain? You're a giant wolf!" I said tucking my legs under me trying to keep a distance. He scribbled more down and turned it to me.
I am a werewolf. As are the rest of the people who live here. Did you not sense it?
"A werewolf? Like out of the movies? No they don't exist. They're not real!"
