Snow fell outside as I sat on the couch rubbing my pregnant belly. It had been about seven years since I found out about my history. I had two beautiful children, Matthew Russel and Piper Rose, with little Kearstin Marie on her way. Logan was busy in the kitchen with Nipel to get Christmas dinner ready. Caitlin played patty-cake with her son, Zander. Nipel and Caitlin married and then adopted a handsome little boy, whose parents died in an attack by Colton. Colton spent his lonely days in a silver-plated cell on the opposite end of the pack grounds.
Matthew, only six years old, played with his four year old sister while Frosty the Snowman played on the TV. Life was good. I had a family and an amazing husband. Colton's pack (which was now mine) had filled me in on stories about my parents. They told me about how they met and how I was their rainbow child. They had tried to have kids, but each time ended the same way. They told me about the day I was born and how my dad had howled so loudly, he lost his voice for a week.
I cried hearing these stories, but I was thankful to have them. Logan had asked me to marry him that Christmas and we got married that spring. It was a big wedding. Old friends of my parents came and even some cousins on my dad's side. I was pregnant not even three weeks after the wedding and had Matthew. Logan wanted a little girl next so Piper was conceived after that. Now Kearstin was on her way and I couldn't be happier. Tanner had met a rogue from Alex's pack and fell in love. She kept him on his toes. They were expecting their first pup in July. Brody was entranced by this red-head from my father's pack and was trying to win her over. So far, he was doing a good job of it.
Little Piper tottled over to me and patted my belly. She was excited to have a baby sister on the way. Matt came over and placed a hand on my belly too. He wasn't too thrilled to hear it was a girl, but I think he's coming around to the idea.
"Is Kea-stin coming tonight, momma?" He asked. He couldn't quite say her name right.
"Not tonight baby. She's coming next month." I said smoothing his dark hair back. He was definitely his father's son. "Are you excited for her to arrive?"
"No, I don't want her to get any of MY presents tomorrow from Santa." Caitlin burst into a fit of giggles and I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face.
"Matthew, your sister won't take your toys. She'll have her own toys." I tried to reason.
"Yah, but Pip always takes my toys!" He huffed. Pip was a name Logan started using. Even though he got his voice back, he was still quiet. I guess not using it for years would make you quiet. He would say what he needed to but after that he wouldn't say much else.
"Pip just wants to be like you. As a big brother, you have to learn to share with her." I said helping Piper get into the seat next to me.
"Believe me Matt, you're going to have to share for the rest of your life." Caitlin said patting Zander on the head.
"Dinner is served." Logan said coming in. Matthew ran to his father and leapt into his arms. Piper tottled after her brother and I struggled to get up. Caitlin was there to help me to the kitchen.
"I swear, this is the last pregnancy. I can barely walk!" I said trying to move around toys and chairs.
"That's what you said about the last one." Caitlin laughed.
"This time I'm serious." I huffed.
"Ya, sure. Logan has always wanted four kids." She laughed as my face twisted up. "Logan! Come help your pregnant wife!"
I flinched at how loud she was, but hey she was helping. Logan rushed back in and took to my other side. Caitlin took Zander into the kitchen, leaving Logan and I alone.
"Four kids?" I huffed.
"Heh, what can I say? I'm a family man." He laughed.
"You sure, its not because of the fun you have in making our children?" I glared at him.
"That, my dear wife, is a bonus." He smirked as I swatted him.
"Keep dreaming." I said as the doorbell rang.
"He's here." Logan let me lean against a wall as he rushed to the door.
"You better hope Caitlin doesn't kill you." I said before he opened the door. Alex stood there with a pretty girl on his arm. She looked sweet, but we all knew she had to be just as crazy as this sociopath. Alex smiled and ushered the girl in.
"Merry Christmas Logan and Zoe." He said bowing. He took to bowing at us as part of his little antics. He wasn't all cupcakes and rainbows, he could still be a jerk, but he wasn't trying to force me to do anything anymore. Caitlin still hated Alex and I was hoping she wouldn't make a big deal out of this.
"Merry Christmas Alex. Who is your beautiful friend?" I asked smiling at the girl. She didn't look familiar, but she smelled like a werewolf.
"This is Lana. She's a refugee from one of Colton's attacks. She is also my mate." He smiled at her and it was the first genuine smile I had ever seen on him. It made him seem more of a lovesick boy than a leader of our secret police. With the joining of my pack, Logan's pack, and Alex's rogue pack, we had become one of the most powerful packs in North America. Which made us targets by rogue packs and werewolf hunters. We hadn't had many attacks on us and those that we did have were squashed easily. Logan and I tried to lead as fairly as we could but there were times we had to put that aside and make examples.
"Welcome Lana. It's so nice to meet you." I said as she made her way over to shake my hand.
"Luna Zoe! The pleasure is all mine. My father and your father were friends. He told me so many stories about how they grew up together. I would love to share them with you." She said helping me into the dining room.
"I would love to hear them." I said taking a seat.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Caitlin snarled. All the little kids gasped and whispered.
"Aunt Caitlin said the H-word." I heard Matt whisper to Zander.
"Alex is family too Caitlin. As much as you hate it." Logan said giving her a warning look. "Besides, he's proven himself many a time. Now sit down and watch your language around the children."
She sat down begrudgingly and grumbled something about them hearing it sooner or later. I smiled and watched my family. Eight years ago, I was sitting in my apartment feeling so lonely and now I had an amazing family. Tanner and Brody the crazy uncles., Caitlin and Nipel the loving aunts, Alex the crazy but caring uncle, Matt and Pip my beautiful children, and Logan my adoring husband. Life turned out better than anything I could have ever expected.
