~26~Another One

"I told you this wouldn't work". Alfredo whispered to Leonardo and he turned to glare at him.

"Can you stop?". Leonardo asked as he racked his brain for ideas.

"Move faster". The man nudged their backs with his gun and they turned to glare at him. He almost shrank at their gazes but put up a bold front. Other men followed behind them trying to contain David.

The foolproof plan had gone sour. Julian escaped and tipped off Giovanni at the last minute. Leonardo was out of ideas and could only hope Alcina had escaped successfully. Now imagine his shock as they were led into that same ballroom, with a bruised and bloodied Alcina standing in the middle with Valentino lying beside her and Lucas kneeling beside Valentino.

"How nice of you to join the party". Giovanni spoke as Leonardo stared at him. He wasn't sure what this crook had up his sleeve but he wasn't going to sit around and watch him.

"Let her go". He said slowly.

Giovanni laughed. "Now why would I do that? If only you had agreed to my terms, Leonardo". He paused. "But now you both die and I still take over the family"

Giovanni walked up to Leonardo and patted his cheek almost lovingly. Leonardo tried hard to restrain himself from twisting and breaking his arm. Turning to face Alcina he said, "Or I could take her to a brothel. Men are hungry for blondes these days"

Leonardo heard Alcina suck in a breath as Giovanni held her face scrutinizing her, he knew she was restraining herself too. The hatred in her eyes was just too much. As all this was going on he spotted movement on the balcony above. A shadow ran across and stopped, Leonardo could make out a gun.

"Now, let's have some...". Giovanni didn't finish his sentence as the first man dropped. The gun was silenced so all that was heard was the whizz of the bullet.

"There's someone up there! Sweep the area!". Giovanni yelled instructions. The men made to run to the stairs at the corner but dropped before taking two steps.

More men came into the room but before Leonardo could start giving instructions, Alcina had beat Giovanni's hand off her face. She kicked his legs, making them give out, before pushing him to the ground. She jumped on him, throwing punches.

"Lucas, get Valentino out of here!". Leonardo yelled. He turned to punch the first guy to come at him. From the side of his eye, he noticed someone raise a gun. Using the first guy as a shield, he ran towards the other one, kicking him in the stomach when he got to him. Leonardo scrambled for the gun as the man dropped it.

Now armed, he shot at whoever he saw, but more seemed to come. He heard a scream and turned just in time to see Alcina thrown across the room, skidding to a stop by the wall. With all the adrenaline and pent up emotions, Leonardo was having none of that. Ditching the empty gun, he ran to Giovanni in a blind haze and pulled his arm back.

Leonardo threw a punch before Giovanni could realise it. Then a series of punches and successful blocks came from both of them. Leonardo tried knocking him off his feet. Squatting, he swung his leg into Giovanni's but the latter fell and was back on his feet in get-up move.

Giovanni attempted to punch his side but Leonardo caught his fist and twisted his arm, causing him to scream. Still holding the arm, Leonardo kicked his face, then with his elbow, he broke Giovanni's arm more.
A spinning round-house kick and Giovanni fell to the floor in a bloody lump.

Leonardo ran to Alcina's side. Getting on his knees, he picked her up gingerly, resting her head on his lap. She opened her eyes as he brushed a strand of hair away from her face. Her face looked thoroughly beaten, he ran a hand over her bruised lip. She smiled slowly, then closed her eyes again.

"Leo!". Someone shouted as Leonardo looked up. Giovanni stood holding a gun with his good arm.

"I'm tired of you Moretti's running around causing trouble. I'm ending this now". He removed the safety of the gun and placed his finger on the trigger. Leonardo braced himself. If he was going to die, he would die with the woman he loves in his arms. But it never came. Looking up, he saw Bianca with a bat grinning at him with Giovanni at her feet.

"Let's go home". She said.
