After a night of silently sobbing, Alcina was ready to get out of there even if she died trying. With her feet bound and arms cuffed forward, she attempted to stand. Still sitting on the ground, she pushed her knees to the floor and placing her elbows on the wall for support, she got into a kneeling position. Then a squat and she brought herself to her feet. She sighed having accomplished such a task and hopped to a window.

She found herself staring down at a less busy street. Alcina assumed she was possibly two stories above the ground. She racked her brain for ideas as she stared above the handcuff. Her eyes darted to the floor where her hair pin had fallen when Giovanni grabbed her hair. She picked it hastily and tried picking the handcuffs. After some minutes, Alcina groaned. This was more difficult than the movies portrayed.

Not giving up, she tried again. And after a few jiggles, the snapped. Imagine the happiness Alcina felt as she rubbed her reddened wrists, grinning. She hurriedly loosened the ropes on her ankles and soon she was free. Eager to escape, she tiptoed to the door, but it was looked. She groaned and sank to the ground, frustrated. She sat there for a while,  reminiscing the events of yesterday. She wished she hadn't left the club, but she was definitely not sorry for slapping Leonardo. He was being more controlling and annoying than required. One minute they were kissing on the sidewalk, the next he was yelling at her in a club, treating her like a child. If he knew anything about her, he'd know she didn't like being told what to do.

Rattling in the keyhole chased away her thoughts. Alcina stood up as her heart raced, contemplating options. At the dying second, she rushed behind the door as it opened. One of the men with Leonardo from yesterday stepped into the room. Before he could register that Alcina was not present, she was out the door. Seeing that he had left the key on the door, she closed it and locked him in. Still nervous, she decided to take the key with her so he would be there for a while.
Alcina glanced around noticing three other doors, but the voices she was hearing weren't coming from this floor.

She did not miss Giovanni's voice among them. As stealthy as she could be, she walked to the flight of stairs and went down them. As she got to the ground floor, she saw a door open and shadows on the floor. From the voices and shadows, there was definitely a lot of people in there.

Aware of her unarmed state, she went the opposite way. Unsure of how to get the hell of the place, Alcina spotted a door, with sweet, bright sunlight reflecting underneath.
Pushing it open, she peered around and when she saw no one, she stepped out. She came to realise that this was the back door and that this wasn't the Ricci fort. Walking cautiously and constantly glancing behind her, she went to a corner. No one was in sight again.

Her heart raced. The joy of almost being free and the fear of being caught, jumbled up her mind. Looking around the corner, she spotted several men scattered around strategically, all armed. Alcina withdrew quickly as one looked at her direction. She gulped and thought of ideas.

She could make a mad dash for it and risk getting shot.
She could search around the building for helpful items and risk getting caught.
She could also be as sneaky as possible and make a run for it at the right moment to hide behind the suvs parked around. The building faced an almost deserted road and it would be difficult for her to find a ride home. She didn't even know where she was but her optimism would not let her back down.

Alcina found an opening as the guard nearest to her was called inside and the others became more tense. Without a second to loose she ran towards the vehicle and stopped behind it. She didn't need a second guess to know they had discovered she was missing.

In a blind haze, she ran to the next suv and the next until she heard, "Who's there? Stop!". She panicked and kept running. They opened fire on her and she stayed rooted to the spot. Bullets smashed windscreens sending glass flying. The shooting died down.

Alcina heard Giovanni speak, "Stop! Who the hell opened fire first?!". No one replied. Alcina kept moving, glad she was almost close to the road. She would run like never before.

"Alcina! Stop these games!"

She cursed herself, if only she had thought this through. Desperate, she ran and increased her speed as she got to the road.

"There she is!". Someone shouted and soon footsteps followed her. It wasn't long before she was tackled.
Alcina hissed as she scraped her knee. Before the pain could register, she was being dragged to her feet. She screamed and struggled as they brought her back to the compound, eventually setting her down before an angry Giovanni.

"Why won't you just leave me alone?! You killed my father wasn't that enough for you?!". Alcina screamed at him. Tears fell freely.

He laughed. "You seem to take that too seriously. I did what was best for business. I have to say, that stunt with escaping the room was smart, but you can't escape from me sweetie".

She wiped her tears and glared at him not standing down.
"Why don't we go in? I'm sure after all this excitement you must be hungry". Giovanni said as he turned around. A nudge on her back told her she had to follow him.

"I have someone I want you to meet, you two are very acquainted". Alcina did not miss the sarcasm in his voice. She was offered a seat in one of the rooms and asked to wait. She didn't object, she was actually hungry.

For some reason, Giovanni sat with her, playing with a knife.
"Giovanni?". A familiar voice spoke and Alcina raised her head. She could identify the chirp and the talons any day.

With a smug smile at Alcina's reaction, the visitor walked to Giovanni and settled in his lap before giving him a heated kiss.
"Rachael?". Alcina croaked.

"Hello Alcina. Long time". Her stepmother said before cackling and kissing Giovanni another kiss to prove a point. Alcina had to keep herself from gagging.

It made sense now, Rachael had aided Giovanni in her father's death. It hurt to think of that but no other ideas came to Alcina's head. And to think that her father genuinely loved he witch.

"I see you're doing the mathematics in your brain". Giovanni laughed and dragged Rachael out of the room.
Food was brought a while later, but her appetite was almost gone.
