Chapter Twenty Three: Tum Miley..

You were like coming up for fresh air. It's like I was drowning and you saved me.

"MANIK--MANIK MALHOTRA "

He turned--not to check who it was--No..Not at all--because even with his eyes closed he can identify the voice--which belonged to her--he turned to make sure that he wasn't hallucinating--AGAIN--he wanted to make sure that he was seeing her this --for real.

"Are you real..or am I imagining "Manik said taking a step towards her.

"Ji??"Nandini replied so sternly that snapped Manik out of his trance.

That's when he realised that he wasn't dreaming or hallucinating..she was actually standing in front of him--for real.

"Oh my god..tum Sach me Ho"Manik replied with a smile.

"Excuse me"Nandini got confused and annoyed once again."Are you drunk Mr. Malhotra"Nandini replied while she folded her hand and tapped her foot in annoyance.

"What"Now it was Manik's turn to get confused. "What"WHAT"Mr.Malhotra..I am standing right in front of you and you are asking me if I am for real..are you high"Nandini replied with a grim expression.

That's when Manik realised what was happening around..Of course SHE WAS FOR REAL..SHE WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF HIM..AND HERE HE WAS WASTING TIME IN DEBATING WHETHER SHE IS FOR REAL OR NOT--FANTASTIC!!!WHAT A GREAT START --Manik internally kicked himself.

But now was not the right time. He can reprimand himself for being the biggest idiot on the planet later..now he needs to do DAMAGE CONTROL--or else PREM KAHANI SHURU HONEY SE PAHLE HI KAHANI KA THE END HO JAEGA--he needs to act quickly and smartly.

So finally getting a grip over his emotions he got back into his HEART THROB Mode. Smilingly he looked at her and said"I apologise..actually I was expecting someone else..and honestly I was a bit nervous so I was kind of hallucinating and was seeing her face everywhere..and I was waiting for her but instead you showed up..and once again my imagination got better of me and I started seeing her in your face..I am really sorry if I made you uncomfortable..I apologise...it was totally unintentional."

Nandini's expression changed in an instant. Disappointment was clearly visible on her face. She was embarrassed --because of which her face turned red--she looked down.

"What was I thinking..of course he is here to meet Suhana..why would he imagine me everywhere..how can I even think something like this..Nandini Murthy..how stupid of you"Nandini thought in her mind. She was so embarrassed that she wanted the ground to swallowed her up then and there itself.

"Oh man..what did I do..how can I do this to her..God she is looking so disappointed and disheartened..Manik you are really the biggest moron of this entire Universe..how can you say all these things to her--when clearly you were thinking about her only..you are so rude Manik Malhotra..now do something before she gets hurt even more than she already is" Manik so wanted to kill himself at that time.

"I am sorry I didn't mean to offend you"
Manik said looking at her doing his best to make her feel better.

"No don't be..in fact I should be the one apologising..I didn't mean to intrude or interrupt your private moments..it's just I was here to see Arman but he is not here..the Manager led me here and asked me to wait here..I am sorry I will leave you alone"Nandini was about to leave when Manik held her hand and stopped her from living.

"Arey don't"Manik said without leaving her hand. Nandini looked at their hand first and then at him. His act really surprised her--and it was clearly visible on her face. Manik realised that and her left her hand--unwillingly.

"I am sorry"he mumbled. Nandini too looked here and there to avoid eye contact with him. "It's okay" she replied feebly. "I think they both will be late..would you like to give me company till they arrive" Manik said in a casual tone.

Obviously it was no more than a pretence--because deep down he was apprehensive about her answer--what if she declines and leave--he doesn't have any reason to stop her--he was shaking terribly inside to hear her answer but outside he somehow managed to keep an calm exterior.

"You won't mind"Nandini asked. He instantly replied "Not a bit..in fact I will be obliged if you agree to accompany me" When she didn't say anything he asked "Shall We" to which she just nodded.

Like a gentleman he led her way and pulled a chair for her and gestured her to sit. Once she sat down Manik took the opposite sit in front of her.

He couldn't believe that God could be so kind on him. Just few moments earlier he was looking for ways to reach her--he was planning for ways to get out of this lunch--but now here she was--sitting right in front of her--looking angelic like ever.

One think that Manik realised was that how peaceful he was feeling all of a sudden--just because she was right in front of his eyes--he was feeling ecstatic. He was feeling as if he is flying. He never felt so liberated.

Even Nandini was feeling a little overwhelmed because she never expected to see him once again but here she was having lunch with him--but what really shocked her that she was really excited about it--when she shouldn't be--after all Manik was going to get married to his future sister-in-law--but right now her heart couldn't care any less about that fact--in fact her heart was dancing out of happiness--now that was a revelation--(shocking of course)-for her.

When though they came to see other people but instead their path crossed once again--because contrary to Manik's believes DESTINY was always on his side--sorry let's rephrase--DESTINY WAS ON THEIR SIDE.
