Chapter Six: Sortilege

The round of questions were started by none other than his own mother--NYONIKA MALHOTRA.

After dropping Alia and Mukti at their respective places both Manik and Nyonika got back home.

Though throughout the driving he could feel his mother's gaze on him but of course he decided to avoid it. So the moment they reached their home Manik asked Nyonika to get inside and asked their respective house helps to get the shopping baggages out of his car as he was leaving for Cabir's house where he was meeting both Cabir and Dhruv.

Manik knew if he got into the house now Nyonika will not let him go that easily and he will be bombarded with questions so it was better to make a run for the hills before his mother gets to him.

But of course Manik should have known better because the moment the house helps took the baggages inside the house Nyonika literally dragged Manik to her room.

Once they reached his parents room Nyonika left his hand and turned to look at him with eyes full of questions.

"Mom what's going on..why you literally dragged me here maa..what's happening " he asked looking all curious and anxious--which was obviously nothing more than pretence.

As Manik already knew the answer to these questions--because he knew his mother too well--he was trapped now and inside he was panicking and trembling because of fear and anxiety--as he knew he was about to get caught--but of course he can't let his mother see the inner turmoil which he was going through because he himself doesn't know what was wrong with him.

He had no idea why was he feeling like the way he was feeling --he had no answer to these questions--and now if his mother asked him anything what would he say to her--that he had no idea what's wrong with him.

He can't tell her the truth--neither can he make her understand what he was actually going through--which really disturbed him as before today he never faced a situation like this where he can't share his feelings and emotions with his mother.

So instead he did something which he hated the most--lie to his mother.

But apparently that was the only solution he could find at this moment. So he did what he had to.

So putting all the innocence of the world on his face he asked his mother with a puppy eyes what was going on and waited for her to answer.

But unfortunately today Nyonika was in no mood to let Manik succeed in his game..after all she was his mother--she knew him too well. She knew something was definitely wrong with him as he was behaving quite weirdly. And she wanted answers.

So without wasting anymore time she straight away got to the point "you tell me what's wrong with you"

Of course the way Nyonika asked this question shook Manik's confidence a little more than he expected because he realised that his mother was not up for the game that he wanted to play.

What do you mean MOM..I told you na ....I am absolutely okay.."Manik replied looking anywhere but her.

"You don't look okay..and don't you dare lie to me..because in case you are forgetting I AM YOUR MOM " Nyonika folded her arm and looked at Manik with such intensity that almost made Manik run for the hills..ALMOST.
