Tom's POV
"Here we are." Kristen says with a slight smile on her face.
"Are you kidding me? This is it? This is where we've got to live for the next god knows how many years?" Nathan asks. I look up at the dark, bleak house. It's big though, I'll give you that. It must have at least 30 room, which is bigger than any house I've ever lived in.
"Yeah, what's wrong with it?" Kristen asks, frowning.
"It looks like something from a horror film." I tell her.
"Well they do say it's haunted. That's why it's empty. Nobody will go near it." Kirsten explains.
"Haunted?" Nathan says, looking slightly terrified.
"Come on Nathan, we're probably the scariest creatures alive and you're worried about a few ghosts?" I say, almost laughing.
"Yeah, but that's different isn't it?" Nathan says, trying to defend himself.
"How?" I ask, waiting to hear his explanation, even though I know it will be rubbish anyway. Nathan has always been a bit of a weakling and I can't say I'm surprised that he's afraid of ghosts.
"I don't know, they just are." Nathan tells me, but I'm not buying it.
"Guys, calm down. Ghosts don't exist and I've been here loads of times, so trust me, it's safe." Kirsten tells us.
"I'll have to take your word for that." Nathan says, still sounding unsure.
"Are we going in then, or are we just going to stand here talking about Nathan being a wimp?" Shannon asks, rolling her eyes.
"Alright, let's go." I say, walking towards the house. When we get to the doorway, I begin to pull the vines out of the way of the door. I literally have to rip them apart to get through.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" Nathan asks.
"Do you need your nappy changing or something Nathan? It's just you seem to be shitting yourself." I joke, but he doesn't seem to see the funny side of it.
"Oh shut up, Tom. Just because I have a conscience and you don't." Nathan tells me.
"Oh please, you want to talk about consciences? Really? You've killed just as many people as me and you didn't even blink whilst doing it." I tell him, as I turn the door knob and open the door. It creaks open, revealing the dark and damaged hallway.
"Please tell me they have electricity. I'm not going in there in the dark." Nathan complains.
"There is. Hold on." Kirsten says, as she pushes her way through us and walks into the hallway. She flicks a switch and the light slowly fades in and flickers.
"Shouldn't we keep the lights off, so that people will think that nobody is here?" Shannon asks.
"Yeah, that's true actually." Kirsten says, turning the light off again.
"Better luck next time." I say to Nathan.
"Come in." Kristen says.
"Hold on, do you live here?" I ask, knowing that vampires can't walk across the threshold unless you live there or you're invited in. I guess that's why she said come in because otherwise we wouldn't be able to get in.
"Kind of." She says.
"What do you mean, sort of?" Nathan asks, looking slightly puzzled.
"Well I was squatting her with a few friends before I got bitten." Kristen tells us and I step into the house and begin to look around.
On both sides of the hallway there is a door. I choose to go through the left door and there I find a dusty, royal blue living room. There's a blue sofa and old fashioned TV in the corner.
I walk over to it, wipe the dust from the top of it and then I press the on button. However there is no reception, so I decide to investigate further. I then turn the TV off and make my way over to the other side of the room, where there is shelf filled with different cat statues.
"This place is so creepy." Nathan tells me, as he walks up behind me. I think he's following me.
"It's not that bad." I roll my eyes. I walk towards another doorway at the left of the room. Once I open the door, I realise this is where the stairs are. This house has a really weird layout, but then again, it's supposed to look creepy isn't it? Or people wouldn't be convinced that it's haunted.
I brush the cobwebs out of the way, before making my way up the stairs. There are pictures hanging on the wall next to my head as I walk up. They're of a family, I presume. There's a man, a woman, a girl who looks about 13, a boy who looks about 15 and the woman in the picture is holding a baby, which could be either gender. The group would probably look normal, if it wasn't for their old fashioned looking clothes.
When I get to the top of the stairs, I see a series of doors, four to be exact. I take my chances on the one up ahead and make my way towards it. When I open it I find a child's bedroom. At least, I guess it is. There are wooden toys lined up on the shelves and a cradle in the middle of the room.
I decide to leave this one because there's obviously not going to be anything in there that is of any interest to me.
Once I'm out of the room again, try the second door, which is to the right of me. That one isn't much use either, it's just a bathroom. Besides now I'm not human, I don't have human needs. So I'm hardly going to need the toilet, however it might be nice to take a bath if there is any running water.
In the third room, there is a bed and a series of toys that would be suitable for a girl. I don't know why someone who is above the age of 10 would need toys, but I guess it's personal preference isn't it? The walls are pink and the bed covers are lace.
In the fourth room, there is something different to the others. This one looks like a modern boys room. There is a TV and an play station one, which isn't the most modern, but it shows that whoever lived here, didn't live here that long ago. Then as I turn around to leave the bedroom, I notice something on the wall, where the wall paper has peeled down slightly. I decide to take a look and pull the wallpaper down, revealing the letter "B" painted in a thick red substance. I then pull down the wallpaper strip next to it and then the next one and the next one, until the word is revealed. "BEWARE" it says and it suddenly dawns on me, that it's painted in blood.
