Part Twenty-Three

Nathan’s POV

As I sit alone, thinking about everything that’s happened, all because we decided to out on the town in America. We should have stayed in the hotel or come home early. Then I would still have Lu and I wouldn’t be this monster. I sit at the table with a can of beer in my hand. It’s weird how I used to love this, but now the taste of it makes me feel sick. I suppose blood is like my alcohol now, isn’t it? It is an addiction, after all. Maybe if I kill again, it will numb the pain. It worked last time. I don’t know whether this is the pain of Lu leaving, or whether it’s the hunger kicking in again. I slam my can down on the table, squashing it, so it’ now flat to the table and the beer is pouring out onto the table. Usually I would run and get a tea towel, but now I couldn’t care less. I make my way out of my house, slamming the door behind me. I know it’s about five in the morning, but someone should be out, shouldn’t they? Maybe walking a dog or something like that. I then remember that there is an old ally way down by the shop, where drug dealers like to do their business, maybe I could kill someone down there. I mean, they wouldn’t exactly be missed would they? No one cares about drug dealer, do they?

When I reach the ally way, I hear noise coming from it and then I notice a figure running down it. I wait at the end, ready to catch them and do the horrible deed. I just hope it’s worth it and it will stop the pain. “Nathan” the figure echoes, from the ally way.

“What?” I ask in slight shock. As the figure comes closer to me, I realise that it’s Max.

“We have to go” he tells me, as he stops dead in front of me.

“Go where?” I ask him in confusion.

“Listen, Vlad wants us to kill Jay and if we don’t he’s going to come after us and kill us. We need to get away from this place before he finds us” he tells me, in a panic.

“Seriously?” I ask.

“Yeah, now come on we have to warn the others” he tells me, as he carries on running. I follow him and we soon find ourselves at Tom’s house. Max bangs on the door, whilst I wait at the gate. I look from left to right in the hope that no one will notice us standing here. After all we are a famous boy band and if they notice us, they will want to take pictures and we don’t show up on camera.

“What?” Tom snaps, as he pulls the door open.

“Vlad’s going to try and kill us. We need to run” Max says, getting straight to the point.

“Shit” Tom says, and with that he steps out of the door, slamming the door behind him. Next we have to warn Siva and then we can pick Jay up on the way to freedom and our new life, which will be lived in the shadows.

Once we get to Siva’s house, he seems different.

“What do you want?” he smirks, as he pulls Kass close to his body right in front of us.

“The vampire want us to kill Jay and if we don’t their going to come after us” Max says, and Siva just raises his eye brow.

“What?” he asks. I look around the street eagerly and then I start to notice people coming out of their houses to go to work. I didn’t realise how early it was.

“Can we come in?” I ask, as I drag my eyes back to Siva. I can feel my mouth watering with the thought of those people’s blood beating around their body.

“Yes” Siva says, as he opens the door and we all walk inside. Me, Max and Tom sit on one of the sofa’s, whilst Siva sits on the other with Kass.

“So what’s going on boys?” he asks me and for some reason he seems different. He doesn’t seem like the Siva I once knew.

“Well the vampires want us to kill Jay” I tell him.

“Why would they want to kill Jay?” he asks and then I remember that he wasn’t with us at the vampire lair and he doesn’t know that Jay is a werewolf.

“He’s a werewolf and we kind of protected him from the other vampires, so now they want us to kill him and if we don’t, the vampires are going to come after us” Max tells him and he just smirks.

“So you want help in killing him?” he laughs.

“No, we wanted to tell you that we’re running away and you’re coming too” Max scowls at him.

“Well they don’t know I know him, do they?”

“Well no, but” I start, but he cuts me off.

“Then I’m staying here. I can’t deal with this on my own. I want to be a real vampire. I want to kill people and I want to go to those meetings and everything” he says.

“Are you being serious? You would sell out your own friend?” Tom butts in.

“Well things change and he’s not one of us, so yes” he say and I can tell that the blood has done this to him. The killing has done this to him. They say that some people can go mad with power and that’s what I’m seeing here. I just hope he won’t end up regretting his decision.

“We have to go” I say, as I look around at Tom and Max. We can’t spend too much time here. He might tell them that we’ve gone and that would mean they could find us quicker. We just need to find Jay and then we can get away.
