I sat in the living room watching tv...well that'd be a lie. I had the tv on, but my eyes were too occupied watching staring at the clock.
I was waiting on Theo to get back from his late night workout at the gym since I honestly didn't want to go to sleep on my own. Of course Gracie was with me, but Theo had a certain trait about him that made slumber come instantly to me.
Maybe it was the fact that he made my nerves calm, or that he just made me feel safe and protected overall. Having him next to me was like a drug. Once you had him, you never wanted to let go. He was an addiction that I never wanted to rid from my life.
At the sound of keys unlocking the door, both mine and Gracie's ears perked up. Gracie jumped from the couch and bolted to the door with her tail a wagging to see who our latest visitor was.
"There's my Gracie." I heard an all too familiar voice sound.
A grin immediately graced my face as I walked towards the sound. Only to find Theo bent over next to Gracie while he was petting her on the head. I couldn't help but admire how cute the duo looked together. They were like two peas in a pod.
"You're still up?" Theo asked kind of shocked as he looked up to me as before he stood and brushed his knees off.
"Yeah...I couldn't sleep." I say with a tired smile.
His hair was still damp from the shower he must've taken after his workouts. He'd been driving for hours from Louisiana, then as soon as we got home he went to the gym. He must've been exhausted.
"Well, I'm here now!" He shifted his duffel from his shoulder to the floor before walking over to me.
The scent of his amazing soap immediately filled my nostrils as he wrapped his long, muscled arms around me. His embrace was exactly what I needed and I instantly snuggled into him with a happy smile. With Theo home and little Gracie at our feet wagging that adorable little tail, I once again felt at home.
Not because we were back in our apartment, but because I had my Theo back.
When we left for Thanksgiving we weren't exactly on the best of terms, but over through all the obstacles we face on our way down there we only grew closer. Then the way he was there to help me through everything only made me love him even more.
Everything that happened was a part of the past. Like I said before I had forgiven him long ago. But if I had forgiven him then why did I feel so awful going into his room?
As we laid in his bed, Theo's one arm was wrapped around my waist with his remaining hand in my hair. We'd been laying there for awhile and I just couldn't just doze off. Theo's breathing was steady so I assumed he was lucky enough to be in a deep sleep.
"What are you thinking about?" I felt his chest make vibrations against my back as he asked the sudden question.
"I don't know what you are talking about." I said with my nose in the air.
He let out a husky chuckle before pulling me closer. "Yeah, right. You don't have to be so stubborn, Mya. Just tell me what's up."
I let out a huff and rolled my eyes. "Like I said nothing's wrong."
I climbed over him and walked across the freezing floorboards to my room. Unfortunately his loud steps quickly followed after.
