After a long ride, we have eventually reached Calum's place, nearby by the city in a condo building. It was tall as any other building should be, but I would have thought he'd be the time to buy a house instead of a condo. Dismissing the thought, I got out of the car after he parks in the lot, following him like a lost pup. with the events of today, I could hardly care about the building, I just wanted to get out of my soaked clothing and leave his place.
"Here we are," He sighs, reaching in his pockets and taking out his keys.
He sets a key in the lock, unlocking it then opens and allows me to enter in first. Entering in by the front door, I observed his place and was taken aback, back in high school, his room was always a mess, he was the third messiest among the other three, however, to my surprise, it was clean. The floors and surfaces were shiny, there was not a speck of dust, furniture aligned perfectly, and the flooring was cleared.
It's a nice and cozy place, I pondered as I stand by the door, rocking back and forth with my heels. I watch Calum walks away after taking off his shoes, turning to his left, a door opens and I hear noises before his steps retracted and he returns with clothing.
"Here, I'm sure you're cold in those," He says to me, pursing his lips, "You can wash your clothes, laundry room is across from the bathrooom."
I nodded, taking the materials from his hands, we stood there in silence until Calum finally takes the initiative to lead me to his bathroom. Closing the door, I quickly changed since he had the a.c. on and my body was cold as hell. His clothes were big on me, to be expected, I tied the clothes so they could fit properly and still wore my undergarments underneath. I walked out of the bathroom then to his mini laundry room.
Calum informed me to just throw my dress into the washer and press start as he already had it prepared. I noticed that his dress shirt and pants were set in there as well, I set my dress in the washer, closed the lid, and set Start on the machine. I make my way to his living room, finding him flipping through the television.
I make my way across the room and I seat on a chair by the window, I watched as he continues to go through the channels, unsatisfied with what's being programmed. His hair was growing, his roots were showing, it been a while since late September when it was a buzz cut. Glancing over to the window, I stare at the city underneath the dark clouds and heavy rain, its practically pouring outside.
The two of us remained silent, Calum watching whatever seemed interesting on the TV whilst I observed the rainy weather, I had gotten up once and it was to set the clothes into the dryer. When I returned, I assumed I hadn't noticed the man had fallen asleep, he sunk into the couch, clutching tightly on the pillow he held in front of his chest, legs spread out, and his head hung backwards against the board of the couch. For what seemed like more than an hour, neither of us spoked, being uncomfortable, I make my way to the other end of the couch, carefully sitting down, however, my movement ends up waking him up.
His eyelids fluttered open, he groans as he stretches his limbs, he scans the area from his left to the right, then his brown orbs lands on me.
"Hey,"
"Mhm," I respond, breaking contact and focusing on my feet, playing with the fuzzy carpet.
"Are you hungry?" he asks me and I shake my head.
"Do you want anything to drink?" He asks me but once again, I shake my head.
"Do you want anything?"
Yeah, to get the fuck out of here.
But I shake my head again which caused Calum to sigh very loud.
"Cassidy, please speak to me," he begs, I slightly turn to face him, he was looking at me with pleading eyes, "You don't need to say anything, just let me say what I have to say.
I'm aware what I did back in high school was horrible, we all fucked up not telling you, but we didn't know how to tell you because you were so happy. Luke didn't want to but I knew, deep inside, that we needed to tell you because if we didn't, it would've hurt you more.
I don't even know why I was the one worried about it the most. I knew that I liked you but once I saw you that day on the beach and you were crying. I realized that I was in love with you, I was so in love with you. And I still am. I kissed you back then because I made a decision to let you go and be happy but I was hurt and I hurt you. I was jealous when you found some way better than me and it was Wesley.
At Alex's party, I was so relieved that you were there. It felt like fantasy but it wasn't. You were there, right in front of me. You were so stunning that night. I hated those men who looked at you like that, you don't deserve to have men look for you with lust.
I don't even know where the hell I'm going with this, I wanted to just list all of the bullshit I did, but Cassidy, please forgive me. I miss you so much-"
"Stop please," I cut him off.
We just keep going in circle, he's still hurting me with his words. At the perfect moment, the dryer dinged, alerting it was done with the loan, and I ran to the get my dress. Running into the laundry room, I locked the door and quickly changed out of his clothes as I request for an Uber. It was going to be here in three minutes. Perfect.
"Cassidy, please, I want to fix this,"
"Well, I don't," I tell him as I get out of the laundry.
He continues to follow behind me as I walk away from him. I walk to the front door and I put on my heels.
"Please, Cassidy, I miss you and I love you," he tells me as he grabs my wrist to face him.
I stare into his eyes. I have to but I don't want to.
"Calum. You're... Just leave me alone."
I sprint as fast as I could out of his apartment, heading straight to the elevator. He called after me but I continue to ignore him. I repeatedly push the button as he trails behind me. The elevator finally opens and I go inside, pressing the first-floor button and the closing door repeatedly. The doors were slowly closing, Calum saw and tried to stop the doors but it was too late because the doors closed. My stomach dropped at thought of him going to the stairs to meet me in the main floor. His condo is on the 5 fifth, he would be able to reach me down about the same time, I prepared as the doors opened and I run for it.
I was right about him going to the stairs, I heard him calling out for me as I push the doors, I saw the black car with the right license plate, I dash to the vehicle and opened the door.
"You're the Uber, right?"
"Yes-"
"Okay, good, please leave quickly," I said cutting him as I entered and closed the door behind me.
The man nodded and started to drive, I look back to see Calum coming out of the building staring at me as I left, leaving him heartbroken, once again.
