Chapter Fourteen

Narrator POV:

[May 10th, 2016]

Few days later, Sabine and Tom flew to Paris, France to see Thier daughter. They drove to Tina's house and arrived 35 minutes later.

Tina saw the car and opened the door, while holding Marietta's left hand. Sabine ran towards the two and stared into Marietta's eyes.

Sabine: It's you!

Sabine hugged Marietta. Tears fell down as she did so. Marietta hugged back. Tom hugged them as well, and including Tina. The family was reunited after 12 long years. Sabine let go and smiled.

Sabine: I-I thought that you were dead.

Marietta: I wasn't dead, just lost.

Few hours later, the family were inside Tina's house eating dinner.

Sabine: Where were you?

Marietta: Here. I was under the care of Bridgette Cheng.

Sabine: What did she do to you?

Marietta: Nothing harmful. I thought she was my mom. She was strict and a bit protective. 

Sabine: You thought she was you're mother? You didn't remember anything the night you were taken?

Marietta: I'm sorry I didn't.  But I know now, and I regret.

Sabine sighed and looked down at her food.

15 minutes later, Sabine and Marietta were in the living room alone. Marietta was doing Sabine's hair.

Sabine: Where'd you learn how to do hair?

Marietta: When I was 6. It was christmas and I got a doll. I would always brush the doll's hair.

Sabine: Sounds like you had an interesting childhood.

Marietta: Yeah.

Sabine: Look Sabine, we may not have the past together, but we do have the future. And I want to spend everyday of my precious time with you. How do you say about coming back home to New Haven with me and you're father?

Marietta frowned. She couldn't go. She'll miss her friends, Adrien, Cat Noir, and who would cleanse the Akuma?

Marietta: I can't.

Sabine frowned.

Sabine: Why not?

Marietta: I'll miss all my friends and crush.

Sabine: You have a crush?

Marietta: Y-yeah. His name's Adrien Agreste. When I first met him on the second day of school, I thought he out gum on my seat. But it was actually Chloe Bougouis, the mayor's daughter. He told me the truth the next day after school and gave me his umbrella. I saw how kind and Sweet he is, and I fell in love with him.

Sabine: Aw, thats so cute. Marietta i'm not pressuring you. Its just that I missed you. Its been so much pain for the last 12 years.

Marietta: Why didn't you look harder?

Sabine turned around and faced Marietta.

Sabine: Excuse me?

Marietta: Obviously you didn't try. I was 1,000 miles away.

Sabine: Marietta Thomas Dupain! Me and you're father knocked on every door. I put up flyers and posters of you on every walls in New Haven. We couldn't find you! But we never stopped looking.

Marietta felt tears falling down her face.

Marietta: I'm sorry.

Sabine: You know, for the last 12 years of your disappearance, I talked to you in my head and in my dreams.

Sabine started stroking Marietta's cheek.

Sabine: You have always been part of my life. And you just found out after 12 years about me.

Marietta: I'm just not ready. I'm not ready to throw away my childhood and start over as Marietta Dupain.

Sabine: I know this is hard Marietta, but i'll give you this option. You can stay here in Paris, France. You're father and I will come visit from time to time. You can keep going to the school you're attending.

Marietta: And my identity?

Sabine: Its always been Marietta Thomas Dupain.

Marietta: But I still feel lost. I still don't know why Bridgette took me.

Sabine: I'll handle that, Marietta. Don't worry.
