The man was starting to get impatient with me. He kept looking at his watch and sorting and re-sorting through my documents. I rolled my eyes and picked at my already-bleeding nails. Couldn't he tell that I was getting impatient with HIM?

"Listen, miss Hester," he started up again. "I need you to tell me how you and Liam Baker are possibly the same age."

I hissed. "If you listen, I will tell you!"

I go to fifth period, carrying books and all. You remember the boy who rudely asked me out? Well we were both almost late and he was in front of me heading to class. Since I had my hands full, he held the door for me when I got to it. I just about walked through when he slammed it in my face, causing me to drop all my books and papers. The bell rang.

Danise came up behind me and helped me pick it all up. When we got inside, Liam was standing and glaring at that boy. (Which on the date, I came to know him as Dean).

"What the hell?" Liam was saying. "Is that how you treat a girl?"

Mr. Richards was yelling at him to sit down. But his gaze never left Dean.

"You know," he continued. "You're pathetic."

Dean smirked. "Oh, don't you feel all high and brotherly."

Both me and Liam froze rigid. Who told?!

"SIT DOWN!" Mr. Richards shouted.

Liam finally looked over to the red-cheeked teacher.

"Never mind," the teacher said. "Go to the principle's office right this instant! The both of you, Mr. Harris and Mr. Baker."

Liam looked like he would've jumped Dean any moment but thank god he passed him without a word. When he passed me, he stopped and whispered to ask me if I were okay. I nodded and gave him an apologetic look.

Sixth period rolls around and Liam was excused from the office. He came to sixth period, which we also have together. In total, we have four periods together. Math, Biology, Art, and History. All of which I lack knowledge in. But Liam is good at...well, all of the above.

He sat next to me, even though his assigned seat was across the other side of the classrooms. The person who sat next to me usually was sick anyway. And the teacher didn't notice, so whatever.

The bell would ring any minute.

But first, Liam got all the words he needed in. "I have a surprise for you," he said happily. "Meet me after school and I'll show you."
