Angel Wings

"Woah woah woah woah woah, hold up buddy. You're telling me that you are an angel. From Heaven. THE Heaven."

"Yes."

"And that you can see into the past, present and future."

"Yes."

"And that you've known about me since before I was even a thing."

"Yes."

"And that I basically came from a rock and my Mom isn't even my real Mom she was just a human incubator and that I am and always have been a Demon."

"Yes."

"And that there are a whole bunch of other angels that want me dead."

"I'd say that's about the long and short of it yes." The man with the blue eyes regarded me calmly from the bed.

"And that-"

"Allie." Belphegor cut me off mid-sentence. "I really need to tell Father that he has woken up, I'm all for satisfying your curiosity but we will both get into trouble if I don't report this soon."

"Please just give me one more minute and I swear you can go tell him." I said, unconsciously grabbing onto Belphegor's sleeve even though he had made no move to exit the room. His eyes flickered down to my hand momentarily before coming back to my face but I didn't miss the movement.

"Precisely sixty seconds." He allowed as I quickly dropped his sleeve.

"If you really are an angel," I countered, turning back to the blue eyed man to hide the blush that rose steadily up my cheeks from Belphegor. "Why don't you have any wings?"

His blue eyes fell and swam with unknown hurt at my question. "They were taken from me." he sighed. "An angel that falls is never allowed to keep his wings, while it is rare for us to fall further than earth that is one thing that we all have in common." With those words he turned to reveal his muscular back, and the two angry red gashes that had been torn into it where his wings had once been. From the look of the deep festering wounds, the removal of angel wings was no easy process.

My sixty seconds were up, and I heard the latch click quietly in the door as Belphegor left the room.

"Leviathan. Let me go in."

"And why would I want to do that?" playfulness danced around the demon's eyes as he replied but I was not in the mood for jokes.

"Because you don't want to die?" I said, my voice sickly sweet.

"Was that a threat?" he asked, still smiling at me.

"Take it however you want, but you're going to let me into that room sooner or later."

"Oh my dear Allie, there are so many rooms in this palace that I would let you into. Unfortunately this isn't one of them."

I scowled and tried to get past him, he stepped to meet me.

"Excuse me sir, but you seem to be in my fucking way." Annoyance bubbled up in my throat.

"Now now Allie, is that any way to speak to a man who has done so much for you?" his face was filled with mock hurt and he placed a hand over his heart dramatically as he once again stepped to block my access to the door.

"I'm not an expert or anything but I'm pretty sure all you've tried to do is get me in your bed." I replied angrily.

"Now that is truly hurtful, I have in fact, done a great many things to secure your very life here in this palace."

"I'm sure."

"Do you have any idea how many times I have had to talk Father out of your permanent confinement and or execution?"

"AND WHO'S FAULT IS THAT HMM?!" I threw my hands up dramatically "If I wasn't being kept here then I wouldn't be annoying him so much that he'd have to lock me up or turn into a beast to rip my head off!"

"Now that last part was an accident, and he wasn't going to rip your head off, merely subdue you. You went a little overboard with the raikes and it caught everybody off guard."

"So let me gooooooooooo." I replied exasperatedly, leaning back against the wall by the side of the door and slumping down to the floor. Leviathan remained standing in front of the door and looked down at me curiously.

"Who knows what you'd get up to if we set you free." He spoke quietly, more to himself than me. And I began to wonder that too, he was right really. What would I do? What could I do if I left here?

A few minutes passed in silence before I slumped my head forward in resignation. "Can we go for a walk or something? I'm bored."

"Certainly." Leviathan seemed genuinely happy that I had given up on getting into the room that I had been banned from. The room where I knew the blue eyed angel (whom I had come to know was called Remiel) was staying.

Leviathan held out his hand to assist me in getting off of the floor and I took it, there was no point in arguing with him really. At the end of the day he would undoubtedly beat me in a fight and since I was now no longer trusted to be escorted by normal guards, I was destined to be followed around by one prince or another for the foreseeable future. At least I could always count on them to be good eye candy.

We walked in near silence around the palace, stopping infrequently to explore rooms of some interest. I lagged a step behind Leviathan, as he guided me down yet another richly decorated hallway my mind couldn't help but wonder if I actually could escape him. The palace was a maze, and maybe if I ran fast enough I could  lose him.

"I wouldn't count on it." He whispered menacingly as his head turned slightly in my direction. "You can't lose a hunting hound."

My mouth hung open slightly as I remembered the enormous sleek black dog that lurked underneath the pristinely tailored white suit. I had only seen it twice, but from my memory it had been as beautiful as it was terrifying. Perhaps it was boredom, perhaps it was stupidity, most likely both; I got the sudden overwhelming urge to see it again.

So I turned. And I ran.
