You might think that it would be incredibly complicated to even land a blow on a creature like a King of Angels. Like a thing that would need serious planning, skill and experience to do. Maybe that's why the first one was so easy, it was quite obvious that it was not expecting something as simple as blunt force trauma to the head. So it was as the first metric ton of raging swirling rock impacted with the side of the godly creature's face that I first truly believed it was stupid. It seemed completely impossible that I could have landed such a blatant attack, and yet I did.
It was not the Angel's intelligence however, that made it a threat. A fact which quickly became more than evident as the metric ton of rock simply bounced away and landed with a shattering thud at its feet, crushing ten or so Angels that had been unfortunate enough to have been stood under it. The rage that it responded with terrified me and I froze as the weight of its consciousness crashed into mine.
Allie? Allie snap out of it, he's going to-
Pain slashed violently inside my chest as a ball of light cut through me, pushing me back off of the rock and plunging me into the swirling waves below. I choked as they closed up around me. Pouring into my throat the black rock filled my body and smothered the furiously burning light. Before I could take in a breath I was wrenched from the safety of the waves and thrown back up to the surface. Taking control of my body the king lifted me high up into the air and slammed me back down, escaping wouldn't be as easy as just disappearing this time. The only way out of this was to kill it, something that I didn't even know if I could actually do.
Again I catapulted a seething chunk of shadow and rock toward the Angel King, and again it bounced off like a rubber ball. The king responded with another beam of light, I managed to half-dodge it, but still screamed out as the fire slashed open my shoulder.
Damn it!
Blood poured hot and red over my chest. I winced as molten rock flooded over my injury once again, healing me just in time to dodge another furious attack. I retaliated, driving a great knife of rock from the earth and into the creature that attacked me. It was about as much use as throwing a feather.
Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
I quickly fired shot after shot of turbulent tar black rock but it was like I had done nothing at all.
Shit!
I yelled as another blade of light missed me by inches. Heat bristled from the beam as it followed me in a murderous game of cat and mouse across the battlefield. If the King of Angels cared about his army at all it didn't show as hundreds simply evaporated, caught up in the furious heat as it chased me.
Allie watch out!
I gasped as an angel leapt into my path from the left. With madness in his deep amber eyes he grasped onto my neck as I ran by him, a sharpened blade held tightly in his hand. Before I had time to register it the angel released his grip and fell with a choked scream from my side. Fifty metres to my left Asmodeus caught my eye just for a second, flashed his brilliant white teeth and winked at me as the Angel at my feet contorted, bucked from the ground and died before he fell back to it.
Remind me not to get on your bad side. I remarked dryly.
He chuckled humourlessly before turning and slicing three angels in half with a single fluid motion of a blade as they ran towards him.
You had better get a move on with killing that King, the angrier he gets, the more powerful he will become.
It's not like I'm not trying. If you hadn't noticed, he's INVINCIBLE.
