Chapter 13 ~ V

All I feel is the pain as I'm dumped in front of my home. No one comes out to see if I'm okay. They gave up long ago. I dejectedly pull myself inside, too tired to attempt to swim. I reach my bedroom, and that's when Tobi and Kiara appear.

"Your parents aren't home. Council meeting, I think. They won't be back until tomorrow."

He moves forward and pulls me onto my bed. Kiara drapes herself over me and purrs. I rub her flap and groan when she nudges my tail.

"I'll go get some medicine."

He returns quickly and begins patching up the various cuts along my torso. He rubs salve over my tail and I groan at the contact. The paste soothes the ache and I move it a bit to test my limits.

"Tobs?"

"Yeah, Vikky? Does it still hurt? I can swim to Chris's and get some stronger stuff."

"Tobi, take me back to the surface."

"Vik..."

"Please Tobs. It was really bad this time. I just want Josh."

With that, I start sobbing.

"Shh, Vikky. We'll go. I'll... pack some things. Okay? Please don't cry!"

Tobi rushes around the room, packing a bag with various things. Kiara flaps around the room, excited at the prospect of getting out of town. I push myself up and start to help, tears still falling down my face.

My tail aches a bit as I move, but I grit my teeth and keep moving. I swim out to our kitchen and pack a few snacks, especially food for Tobi and I. Kiara can eat from the sea. Us? Somewhat, so it's better to be prepared.

I give one last look around my home before I swim out the towards towards my friends.
