Kissing?

Lyra had started to adjust better after getting the phone. She could look up the answers to anything she was curious about on the internet, which helped her seem less clueless. Her and  Josh grew closer, spending almost every day together, to the point that they would usually spend the night at whoever's house they were at that day.

Lyra adored Josh, something she googled for hours on her phone to figure out. While Josh fell even more for Lyra as time went on, loving the innocence and curiosity of the tiny girl. Josh and Lyra were leaning on each other on Josh's couch, watching a movie that neither of them were particularly interested in.

Josh could feel his heart beat race when Lyra's dainty hand brushed against his before she flinched away, just as nervous as he was. Suddenly, she swung her legs to sit cross legged, facing Josh. The tattooed boy turned to her and smiled, staring right into her eyes, "What are you thinking about Lyra?" He said casually, knowing that she only does this when she has a question.

She fiddled with her fingers nervously  again, making Josh smirk knowing this would be an interesting question if she was this nervous. "Uh, well, I read about something on my phone." She started before pausing again, picking all of the nail polish off of her nails that she had been chipping away at for the last hour or so.

"Okay, I'm listening." Josh smile reassuringly as the green haired girl in front of him, she drew a large breath of air into her lungs before letting it out quickly, "Well, I read about it, and I'm curious. Why do people kiss?" She looked up at him, her eyes widening with curiosity.

He smiled his signature heart melting smile, making Lyra's stomach burst into a sea of butterflies as she looked at her favorite human. "Well, it's a way of showing affection. When you kiss your family it's a small quick peck on the cheek or lip. When you like someone who isn't family or who you are in love with, the kisses usually last longer and they're passionate and filled with emotion. Did that help."

She thought about his answer for a second before nodding, staring at him even more. "Okay I have another question." She smiled shyly, embarrassed about her lack of knowledge on things like this. "What does it feel like to kiss someone?"

Josh giggled and looked at her, "Uh, I don't really know how to describe it. But it's really awesome." Josh started, "Why are you so curious about kissing?" He asked her, the small girl flinched at the question, not expecting to be asked that. She looked up nervously, "N-no reason." She stuttered out barely above a mumble.

They basked in the silence for a few more minutes, Lyra still sat facing Josh, nervously picking away. "How do you decide if you should kiss someone and when you should kiss them?" He felt his heart sink at the question, Lyra must be interested in someone enough to want to kiss them, and that sent Josh's heart down into his stomach, a sick feeling spreading through him at the thought of her liking somebody that wasn't him. "Oh, um..." he cleared his throat and turned to her, "Well, everyone is different, but if it's my first kiss with the person, I like to ask if it's okay to kiss them. If it's not the first kiss and I know they're okay with kissing, I'll just kiss the person. There's no right or wrong time to kiss someone, sometimes you just have to take a leap and kiss them and hope they feel the same way. It's a good way to show someone you like them and want to work towards a romantic relationship with them." He finished, watching her take in what he said like a sponge.

"I watched some videos to see how people kiss, like in the movies and stuff...and I think I want to try it." She said smiling as she thought about it, staring off at the tv, not paying attention to it.

"O-oh. Do you like someone enough to kiss them?" He asked her, pursing his lips in disappointment of his own question, knowing he probably wouldn't like the answer. "Yeah, I do. I know exactly who I would kiss if I had the courage to do it." He swallowed thickly at the lump that sat in his throat. Being the polite guy he is he looked over at her and grabbed her hand, holding it gently.

"You're beautiful, and if you like someone they would be lucky to have you. You should go for it. Kiss that person!" He finished encouragingly, knowing he was doing the right thing, even if it meant she would be kissing someone else.
