HAVIERRE

I PROPPED MY ELBOWS above my desk while I contemplated ways to coerce the citizens of the Districts onto their knees. I already took care of the Senate. Basically, I offered them two choices: leave the country or conspire against me and die. I gave them an example and a body was dragged out of that room, lifeless. They all agreed to hide in the outer regions of the country—some even chose to migrate to other continents—and live there with their families rather than obstructing me to my goals and die.

Sayang.

The door opened revealing Quinn and Brandon standing at the doorway while holding their issued workPads. I saw something flashed from their eyes. Was it fear? Or entirely something else?

"Sir," Quinn said, entering my office. "Most of the citizens of Sapphire District is protesting against your ascent." Live footage of people rallying from Sapphire District flashed from her workPad. She fed it to the hologram on our left so we could all see it in its every pixel. "The World United Government condemns your unlawful take on the presidency."

I breathed deeply and clenched my fist. World organizations as such were such a nuisance.

"Our army takes care of the protest on the Sapphire District, sir," Brandon interjected.

"We are just waiting for your directives," Quinn politely said. Her face was grave. No emotions could be deciphered from her pale face as well as Brandon's.

"Ready the studio in a couple of minutes," I replied as I massaged my temples. "I'll make a statement."

"Will do," they said in unison as they bowed their heads. In a heartbeat, they left the office.

After a moment, the door opened again and spewed Albrecht out. His arms were crossed on his chest and his eyes were nailed at me. He walked slowly to me and stood in front of my desk. He wore a red long-sleeves and the first two buttons were open, exposing his toned chest. Then, he smiled, showing his teeth as white as pearls.

"Are you okay?" he asked and his smile morphed into a frown of worry. He put his hands above my desk and leaned forward, looking me straight in the eyes.

"Yes, it's just that-these people are just . . ." I gave up to find the words. I closed my eyes and leaned on my chair.

Suddenly, he sat on my lap while facing me. I opened my eyes and saw our faces were just inches apart. I could close that gap if I wanted to. I inhaled his minty breath and felt its warmth against my neck. His face was so close. So close. I wanted to close that space around us and feel his body against mine. I want our body to melt together in a heap of passion and pleasure.

His hands crawled their way onto my lapels while his eyes raked over my body. I tried to control myself from cupping his face and savor the plumpness of his lustrous lips.

The spell around us was shattered by a cough. "Sir, the crew is ready," Brandon said. "We're waiting for you." I saw the bright flush of his cheeks as he caught Albrecht sitting on my lap.
