Joe and I's relationship was more of a go out and have fun one, rather than stay inside and watch romantic movies one. I'm not saying we weren't romantic, just that we went out and swam, rode bikes, even walked more than we stayed in.
Today we were at the beach in Brighton, it was usually cold here because of the wind from the water but today was a beautiful day in the late spring. We woke up bright and early and drove down to the beach. We set up our things and immediately ran in the water. We soon got into a splashing fight and Joe charged at me, lifting me over his shoulder then running and tossing me into deeper water, us both in a laughing fit. We had swimming contests and saw who could hold their breath longer, Joe winning of course.
After a while we went back to our towels and lay down. I plugged my phone into the portable iHome we brought and played some music. We lied there and tanned for a while, listening to the music, the waves, the people there. I enjoyed just being next to Joe, knowing we could just chill together and not have to be nervous to say anything to one another. It was really nice.
Around 1 o'clock we decided to head up to a restaurant close by with a nice deck. We gathered our things and packed them into the trunk before going up to the window and ordering fish and chips. We sat on the deck as close to the water as possible. The food was delicious and perfect for a day like this. After enjoying our meals we went back up to the window and ordered ice cream. We went down to a more empty part of the beach and walked along, eating our ice cream.
"Remember the last time we came to the beach?" Joe questioned. I looked back on the day, "Oh yeah, when we came with Zoe and Alfie and it started to rain so we went to the movies instead," we laughed, remembering the only day it rained that summer. "Zoe was so mad!" we laughed even harder. Soon our ice cream cones were finished and we decided to go home.
"Will you sleep over?" I whined, wrapping my arms around Joe's arm as he pulled into my driveway. He paused, "I don't see a reason why not." This resulted in me clapping like a five year old. "Yay!!"
