Chapter 41
I went back home with a bruised eye. Good thing about this is that the swelling went down. My vision is still a little bit affected, so Xander has to drive me back home.
As I was inside Xander's car, I let all the questions wander around my mind. I still couldn't figure out why Kevin would do that to me. Sure we have our ups and downs, but it never went this far. It should never had went this far.
"How's your eye?" Xander asks as he focus his eyes on the road.
I train my left eye towards him. From the looks of it, it seems that there are thoughts that seems to be bothering him. The way he focuses his eyes on the road.
I look away from him. "Still hurts." I simply said.
From the corner of my right eye, I could see that he is eyeing me with curiosity.
"The nurse told me that the swelling should be down within an hour." He said as he train his eyes back to the road.
I don't care. I really don't care about my eye or what the nurse says. I know it is needed for the game, but for fuck sakes these thoughts are getting to me.
Without another single hesitation, I look at Xander with a serious look. "Are we okay?" I asked him. I notice his hand grips firmly on top of the steering wheel and looks at me with a questiong look.
"Why wouldn't we be?" He asks with a calming tone.
I sigh. "I just feel something is wrong." I simply stated. I heard him snicker as he looks at me with a demeaning look. "I should ask you the same question. Are we ok Zac?"
An eyebrow lifted upon my left eye. Are we okay? "I don't know." I said as I look down against my lap.
"You don't know?" He asked. "Yeah." I lowly said. "We've been fighting a lot. Like almost every week." I continue to say.
"Uh huh. Who's fault is that?" He sarcastically asked. I shook my head with disappointment. "Mine." I muttered under my breath.
"I really don't know why I keep forgiving you Zac. Everytime you mess up, I have to say sorry. Even though I didn't do anything." He says with a disappointing tone.
"Maybe because we're bestfriends? And bestfriends have to forgive each other no matter what happens?" I asked him, trying to lighten him up. He looks at me again. His blue eyes focus against mine. He looks away and proceeds to drive at the side of the road and stops the car.
I could feel the intensity as he looks at me again with a fragile look. He then proceeds to lean closer to me and stare at me. "What the fuck dude. Why'd you stop?" I asked as he lean closer towards me.
"Bestfriends huh?" He muttered under his breath. I could feel his hot breath fanning across my face. The smell of fresh cigarette got me intoxicated.
"You know how many times I've heard that come out of your filthy mouth?" He asks curiously. I gulped in fear. He's so close. "You're too close Xander." I whispered.
He didn't bother answering. He caress my bruised right eye. "You don't know what I'm feeling to see you hurt like this." My heart starts beating fast as those words come out of his mouth. What is he doing?
He sigh as he close both of his eyes and pull away from me. I look at him with a cold glare. "What was that?" I directly asked him. "Nothing." He says as he starts the car.
I didn't bother responding. I'm still shock from what happened a while ago. He was so close to me that I could feel the tension within his eyes. Those eyes that were swirling with emotions that seems to intact within the back of my mind. Those eyes that reminded me of the winter snow and as cold as the icy peak of a mountain. I never seen him so — sad.
The way his hand touched my bruised eye. The way how he touches it with empathy and worry.
What the fuck am I saying? Maybe, he is just worried about me. Of course he is.
I look away from him and shook my head to erase those thoughts. He's just worried about me that's why he's so touchy and clingy. Clingy makes me pissy but, he's my bestfriend so I won't mind.
My bestfriend. 'Bestfriends huh?'
But, I still hadn't figure out between him and Kevin. I know there's something going on between them. Crazy to say, but I am willing to listen.
He is my bestfriend. He listens to me when I have problems. I just want to return the favour.
"Xander, I want to know." I told him as he focuses back on the road.
"To know what?" He asked me, not keeping his eyes away from the road.
"About you and Kevin." I told him straight.
He sighs and rolls his eyes. He stares at me again with those cold blue eyes.
"I told you I'll talk to him. I'll tell you everything as soon as possible." He responded.
"I want it coming out from your mouth. I know somethings going on with the two of you." I straight up told him.
"What if I don't want to?" He asked.
"And why the fuck not?" I asked with annoyance.
"Because, it's unfair. You're hiding something too and to be fair, I don't want to tell you anything." He argued back
I quickly look away. He's right. Maybe it's time for me to say it. Even I don't want these feelings to build up. These homo feelings. I need someone to take too. It's a perfect timing since we're facing same situation.
I never expected that Xander and I are having something for — guys
I look at him once again. It's perfect timing. I need to confess.
"Fine, I'll tell you."
