Piper's P.O.V

After I told mum that I have a boyfriend she planned a dinner so Riley can come over too.

But I'm a little nervous because my boyfriend is Alfie and I know that Riley and him have history and that James hates his guts.

I haven't told James yet, but I just hope that everything will go to plan.

James's P.O.V

Tonight, Riles is coming over to have dinner with us. Mum, dad, Piper and I.

I hear a knock at the door and run down stairs knowing that it's Riley.

But at the same time Piper goes to answer it.

James: it's Riley, I'm answering it.

She has a scared look on her face before replying.

Piper: okay.

I smile before opening the door but my smile disappears when I see who it is.

James: you!

Alfie: hi James.

James: what are you doing here?

Alfie: Piper said her mum invited me over for dinner so...

James: change of plans.

I say before I begin to close the door, but someone stops me.

Piper: James.

James: Piper, what is he doing here?

Piper: mum said to invite my boyfriend over for dinner.

I choke and cough.

James: boyfriend!?

Piper ignores me and pulls the door back open.

Piper: hey, sorry about that. Come in.

Alfie walks into our house and Piper closes the door before hugging him.

Alfie: you look beautiful.

Piper: thank you.

I hear another knock at the door and know exactly who it is.

James: Piper, go and introduce him to mum.

I say with disgust and I wait for them to walk away before I open the door.

James: hey babe.

Riley: hey.

James: you look stunning.

Riley: thank you.

Riley walks in and we share a kiss before I close the door and we walk hand in hand into the kitchen.

Mum: oh, Riley honey.

Mum says hugging Riley.

Riley: hi Mrs Tordjman.

Riley says as they pull away.

Mum: oh please, call me Deborah. Piper come and introduce Riley to your boyfriend.

I hear the scarping of chairs and footsteps, then Riley turns around.

Riley's P.O.V

Riley: Alfie.

Alfie: Riley.

Piper: Riley!

Riley: Piper!

Piper and I hug and I whisper in her ear.

Riley: please explain.

We then pull apart.

Piper: Riley, this is my boyfriend Alfie. Alfie, this is my brothers' fiancée, Riley.

Thank god she introduced us instead of confusing her mum.

Riley: nice to meet you.

Alfie: you too.

We shake hands and James pulls me to his chest.

Mr Tordjman: dinners ready.

We all take a seat at the dining table and wait for the food to come out.

I sit next to James and opposite Alfie who is next to Piper.

Deb comes out with a turkey and Mr Tordjman comes out with veggies and potatoes.

Deb: dinner is served.

We all dish up and begin to eat in silence.

Alfie's P.O.V

After dinner Piper and I go outside and sit on the deck.

Alfie: how come James was so shocked to see me?

Piper: because I didn't tell him that you were coming over, let alone that you were my boyfriend.

Alfie: it's okay. I understand why you didn't want to tell him.

We sit in silence for a few minutes until a cold breeze comes through.
Piper starts to rub her arms so I take off my jacket and place it around her before giving her a hug.

James and Riley then come out and sit beside us.

James: I just want to apologise.

Alfie: it's okay, I understand.

James: no, I shouldn't have been so rude.

Piper: James, it's okay.

Piper and James hug before the 4 of us all stand up and walk inside.

I'm happy that I was invited tonight, it was nice to spend time with Piper and her family.
