\\TRIGGER WARNING//
SUICIDE;GOREWhen he opened them, it was dark and chilly. The breeze had turned into a stronger wind. He heard the sound of creaking and looked up into the trees, making out the swinging silhouette he had stumbled upon once before.
"Grayson-" the body spoke but it was limp. "Grayson..."
Grayson opened his mouth to speak but he was afraid all that would come out was a choked sob.
"Grayson!" The body jerked, sending it to sway from left to right.
He stumbled forward as if propelled by a hidden force behind him. He fell to his knees and peered up as the body yelled his name with a tone between fear and anger yet choked and stuttered.
"Grayson! Grayson! Grayson!"
He screamed, pushing his palms against his ears to drown out the sound.
The sixth night.
Everything was the same, he knew exactly what would happen next, yet it continued to terrify him. He knew that the screaming would continue, and that his brother would die in front of his face. He always did, so as the body thrashed back and forth, calling Grayson's name over the sound of screaming, he did nothing. Nothing but scream and hope time would pass with every breath out.
"Grayson! Please!" The body maneuvered its way to face Grayson, his hands clawing at the rope tied around his neck. "Don't just stand there!"
He did nothing as the tears ran down both of their faces. He knew there was only a little bit left, then he could wake up and be faced with reality. He could be with Ryder and struggle to push away the horrifying scenes for a day. But there was only one more thing Ethan could yell to him before he could escape. And he knew exactly what it was. And it broke him everytime.
He looked up at the struggling and sputtering silhouette of his brother and shook his head to try and make him stop yelling. He wanted him to stop struggling, yet he didn't want him to die.
"Ethan!" He yelled out, tearing his hands out of his hair and reaching up at the body. "Please, don't-"
His fingers only brushed the rough fabric of Ethan's jeans before he felt his entire weight being pulled back to the ground as if he had lost all of his form and figure. He couldn't save his own brother from dying. Just like the previous five nights, and the night years before. He was a coward. A fucking coward.
