Shawn's POV

I wake up and make my way to my bathroom. I put on my glasses and look at myself in the mirror.

So many thoughts wondered my mind. So that made school one of the last places I wanted to be. People there just don't understand me, or know me. They think I'm some weird nerd who only cares about school, comic books, and stupid shit like that.

I mean who could blame them? I do dress the part and am really good in science and match but that was it. The only people who know the real me is my mom, my sister, and my friends: Matt and Jack.

At home I was a mess, nobody at my school would recognize me.

Why? My mother was the main reason why. She yelled at and treated my little sister like crap. I hated it and tried to keep my sister away from her or took the place for her. My sister was the world to me, and she deserved much more.

After splashing some water on my face, I get ready. I put on a dark blue flannel with a blur hoodie, khakis, and some all black vans. I also decide to ditch the glasses today.

I grab my bag and head to school. I drive to school, I usually pick up Matt and Johnson, but they tested me saying they walked. My house was fifteen minutes away, and when I walked there I was always late. Yet, I make it to school just in time to put my stuff away.

"Shawn!" I heard the girl who was the second thing on my mind. That was Lauren.

I turn around from my locker, and face her. "Yeah?" I ask, raising my eyebrow. I'm not used to pretty girls that are not nerds that no one talks to, talking to me.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to work on the project during free period? Because my mom is having a work dinner tonight, and wanted me to come so..."

"Um- yeah...yeah. That sounds okay to me."

"Okay, that's good. See you later, Shawn." Lauren waves as she gives me one of her well known smiles, before walking away.

As she leaves I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. I mean Lauren was just so... different. She was nice in every way possible. I have never seen Lauren be mean or disrespect anyone. She was nice to everyone, no matter who they were. I loved that about her.

Oh, and to top it off, Lauren looked like a goddess. In fact, she was known as this schools goddess. She was the most beautiful person I have ever meet- inside and out.

Her only flaw was in guys. Like her boyfriend Cameron. I have seen him acted all cuddly and cute with her around, but without her he was a jerk and flirted with lots of girls. I hated how he treated her, and that she had no clue.

"Wow there! Did I just see you talking to Lauren Williams?" My friend Jack asked, pulling me from my thought.

"Ah- oh yeah." I stay, shaking my head.

"Since when did you and that goddess become friendly?" he asks.

"Probably science." Matt says, my other best friend says. "She used to be my partner, but teacher switched everyone."

"Oh. To bad she has that jerk Cameron has a boyfriend, or I'd would ask her out." Johnson joked.

"Oh really? You'd get rejected so fast." I laugh. We walk into our next class and set down at a table.

"Well... I did hear that Lauren doesn't care about looks or popularity in a guy. He's got a chance." Matt says.

Jack smirks and sticks his tongue out.

"Shut up." I hiss, putting my head in my hand and opening up Harry Potter book 3.

"Ohhhh! Is muffin boy jealous?!" Jack teases.

"Ugh! I'm not jealous you idiot."

"Yeah you are! I can see it in your eyes."

"Okay fine! But you can't tell anyone. I may sort of have a tiny crush on her. I mean she is so pretty and nice..." I say every word while thinking of her pretty smile.

"I get it, but who would we have to tell. Everyone in this school thinks we are weird." Jack says.

"True. But just promise me!?"

"I promise." Matt says, crossing his heart his finger.

"Promise." Jack says.

"Thanks." I say.

"Okay we promised. Now it's your turn to promise that you won't forget us as you chase after Lauren." Jack says.

"I second that, I don't want to loss one of the few friends I have." Matt says.

I laugh and look at them. "I promise that I will never in a million years forget about you two shit heads."

"Heyyy!" They yell, as I laugh.

I sit down at one of the library tables as Lauren comes walking in. Once she spots me, she smiles and walks over.

"Hey Shawn." She whispers as she sits by me.

"Hey."

"So are we going to start where we left off?" She asks.

"Uh- yeah." I say, and she nods.

We got to work on the slideshow and note cards. Lauren would occasionally move closer, making my breath hinge and stiffen. Also she accidentally brushed her hand against mine, sending sparks through out my body.

As we type up a paragraph, I look up to see Taylor and Cameron talking to Ms. Brooks the librarian.

Taylor caught my eye and narrowed his gaze at me. He then poked Cameron making him look at me too. Sending me the worst glare ever as he saw Lauren by me.

"Shawn?" Lauren asks, snapping my attention.

"What?" I ask.

"I asked if you thought this would work." She says pushing the computer to my direction.

I take it and read it. I look up again to see Cam and Taylor still looking at us, whispering about something.

I shake my head and look at the paragraph. I fix a couple things and hand it back to her. She smiles and grabs a note card and writes something down.

Like that someone placed their hands on the table. Causing me and Lauren to look up to see Cameron and Taylor.

"Hey babe. Whatcha doing?" Cameron asks, sitting beside Lauren.

"Nothing much. Just a project." Lauren smiles.

"Awesome. Well, you don't mind if I take Lauren away from you now? I want to take her some where." Cam asks.

"Um- n..no." I stutter as Taylor squeezes my shoulder.

"Good." Cameron says taking Lauren's hand and drags her away.

I sigh and begin to collect my stuff.

I stand up from my chair and was thrown off balance when someone grabbed a hold of my shirt. I turn my head to see Taylor giving my a death stare.

Brings his other hand up and grabs my shoulder firmly. "Now. What do you think that was?" He snaps.

"W-what are you.... talking about?" I stutter.

"Don't play dumb. I say you flirting with Cam's girl."

"Flirting?"

"Yes! You need to stop it or me and Cameron are gonna teach you a lesson. So I suggest you stay away from Lauren."

"What about the project?" I ask.

"You do it, nerd." He snaps before pushing my away.

Before I could grasps what happened next. I felt a large pain in my jaw as I fell to the ground. Taylor walks away as I hold onto my face. God, I hate him!
