Shawn's POV

Waking up the next morning, I quickly hop into the shower. I pull a black tee over my head and then put on some black jeans. Slipping on my all black converse, I grab the rest of my things and go downstairs.

Usually in the morning I get out of the house as quickly as possible. By now my mom would be in her room, past out from last nights partying. So I would try my best to ignore her and not wake her up. Mostly because she is not of a fan of waking up past noon.

My sister would be on her bus to school by now so incase Mom wakes up she will be gone. But today wasn't like every other morning.

Walking downstairs, I find my little sister sitting on the couch.

"Aaliyah? What are you still doing here?!" I ask.

Aaliyah's head snaps in my direction as she gets up. "I missed the bus. Can you give me a ride?" She asks.

I let out a sigh and grab an apple from off the counter. "Sure." I say as she slides on her shoes.

But before we could make it out the door. Mom comes tumbling down the stairs in pajama pants and her bathrobe. A bottle was clenched tightly in her hands, turning her knuckles white.

I roll my eyes as I step in front of Aaliyah, trying to sheild her. "Aaliyah... go to the car please." I pleaded. She nods and quickly turns to head to the car.

"Where do you think you are going?" She snaps.

"To school." I sneer.

Mom narrows her eyes as she finally stumbles to the last step. "It's Saturday. There is no school on the weekends." She objected.

"No... It's Friday."

With that Mom steps into my face and slaps me. It didn't really do much to me because I'm use to it, and her strength wasn't anything compared to mine. Yet, still I would never lay a finger on a woman.

"Don't sass me boy! Unless you want another beating." She yelled.

Pushing her out of my face I turn and storm out of the house, slamming the door without another word. Sometimes she was just to much and I had to get out of there before I do something that I would regret.

Getting into the car I grab onto the steering wheel tightly, and start the car. "Are you okay, Shawn?" Aaliyah asks from beside me.

My body softens as I let out a sigh. Turning to Aaliyah I give her a smile. "I'm fine... everything is fine little sis."

***

I walk into school with a terrible mood. That's what my mother did to me, she put me in a mood all day.  I could only put up an act around Aaliyah when Mom gets under my skin. I care for my sister and with how young she is, she doesn't deserve to see me angry.

"What's got you in a mood?" Jack asks as him and Matt walk up to me.

Slamming my locker shut I turn towards them. "What do you think?" I exclaimed.

Matt elbows Jack's arm as he rolls his eyes. "That was a stupid question Jack. The only thing that gets him this mad is his mom. You know that." Matt said while pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"Oh... sorry Shawn." Jack says, looking at me with such pitty and sadness.

"Whatever." I mutter and make my way to class.

I know I might be being to hard on them for no reason, and I shouldn't make excuses. But I'm just mad right now and need to take it out on some one.
